A Run Through the Jungle | by Jay M Horne May 03, 2012 | $0.99 | 2997 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Jay Horne sprouted up among the roots of a literary family tree. His grandparents on his mother's side, were both English teachers in a rural community, and traveled to every country on the globe. His mother and sister are exquisite artists, and his uncle a published poet. His aunt was retiring from her life-long work as a school principal just as Jay's writing career really started to blossom. What started as an outsource for Jay's extremely soft-spoken personality, writing became a love of his when he happened upon a handful of short stories he had written as a child. Those stories were published in two volumes, as-is called published youth, in 2009. Since the time of his first book, Life's a Joke!, which he is now admittedly embarrassed to claim at times as his own, he has successfully published over 30 works of literary art, some in more than 3 languages. His most notable being, Hubudi, a romantic fantasy that returns a couple of conflicting beliefs to pangea through the raising of the tower of babel and the union of their forbidden loves. He helps authors find their way to the public spotlight through his website http://www.bookflurry.com and has published for more than 40 authors all over the world. |

Harry Bones and the Treasure of Raiders Cove | by R.A. Tidgwell May 03, 2012 | $3.99 | 58926 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: Up until he was 10 years old R.A. Tidgwell, lived just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia, on the road to the famous Peggy's Cove. He enjoyed climbing trees and hanging upside down from tree limbs, coasting and skating on the lakes and ponds in the winter, and swimming in summer. He learned to swim in Ragged Lake near his home. At night he would hear owls hooting and a loon calling from the lake while on warm evenings he could watch fireflies flashing their lights while bats and swallows swooped and dove after insects. .... At age 10 his family moved to Lower Sackville where he attended Acadia School. He continued to swim in the nearby lakes and river after school and skate on them in the winter. Baseball was his favorite game but he did not enjoy hockey. No matter how much gear he wore the puck would always find his bones. Another of his pastimes was riding bicycles. The first, a two wheeled sidewalk bicycle, wore out the first year. Longtime girlfriend Judy married him in 1963 and has spoiled him ever since. They have three wonderful children and three grandchildren who call him Papa. Papa began writing short stories for his four-year-old grandson and these eventually grew into novels for young readers (and the young at heart). R.A. is now living in Ontario. He enjoys technology, owning a desktop computer attached to two large monitors, a 12" laptop, a 7" android tablet, an android mobile phone, and e-book reader. (Saves trees) He sincerely hopes you enjoy his stories. |

Andrea is always in the mood for a good movie with close friends and family (especially her husband and mom), with a large glass of milk and a bowl of overly buttered popcorn nearby. The Youngest Templar: Robard's Revenge, Part 1 | by Michael Spradlin May 01, 2012 | $1.29 | 11388 words | Sample 10% |
| Author bio: Michael P. Spradlin is the author of more than a dozen books for children, some of which have actually been published. He grew up in a small town in Michigan not far from the Indiana border, which may explain his irrational fear of Hoosiers. (Both the inhabitants of the state of Indiana and the movie starring Gene Hackman). Surrounded by books in his formative years, he grew up loving to read, imagining himself the hero of numerous epic battles and indulging in his favorite pastime, which was smuggling fireworks across the Ohio border so that he could blow up his collection of Plastic Green Army Men and Matchbox Cars. School Library Journal called his first book for children, The Legend of Blue Jacket, "a well-researched labor of love." His first novel, Spy Goddess: Live and Let Shop, was a 2006 Edgar Award nominee by the Mystery Writers of America for Best Young Adult Mystery. The second book in the series, Spy Goddess: To Hawaii, With Love, was given a starred review by VOYA. His newest project is The Youngest Templar Trilogy. The first book The Youngest Templar: Keeper of the Grail was published by G.P. Putnam Sons in September 2008. An international sensation, rights to The Youngest Templar series have sold in more than a dozen countries including Germany, France Russia, Spain, Italy, Brazil and most recently Denmark. It is also available as an audio edition from Listening Library. The second book in the trilogy The Youngest Templar: Trail of Fate was released in October 2009 and called by School Library Journal 'brilliant' and 'riveting'. The third book The Youngest Templar: Orphan of Destiny was released in fall 2010. Michael's first book for grownups It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Zombies, was a five week New York Times Bestseller. Published in fall 2009, the book received raves from The New York Daily News, The Baltimore Sun and many other review outlets. Since then Spradlin has collaborated with illustrator Jeff Weigel on Every Zombie Eats Somebody Sometime: A Book of Zombie Love Songs and the upcoming Jack & Jill Went Up The Hill: A Book of Zombie Nursery Rhymes. Spradlin also ventured further afield in the adult humor vein with his hilarious book Pirate Haiku: Bilge Sucking Poems of Booty, Grog & Wenches For Scurvy Sea Dogs. Visit PirateHaiku.com for details on this hilarious story told completely in haiku. In the Summer of 2012 Boy's Life Magazine will publish Michael's very first short story Running With Geronimo. It tells the story of the Geronimo campaign of 1886 through the eyes of a young boy and is based on a true story. This is Michael's first ever published short story and there is special significance in the fact it is being published in Boy's Life Magazine. Growing up Michael was an Eagle Scout and read the magazine religiously. What many people don't realize is that Boy's Life has a storied history of publishing some of the greatest writers in the world in it's 100 year existence, Jack London, Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke among others. While he doesn't count himself as within a dozen counties of these giants, the thrill of being published in a magazine he grew up reading, one that influenced him as a writer is... well... thrilling. Michael is also the author of several picture books for children including the award-winning Daniel Boone's Great Escape, which was a finalist for the Spur Award from the Western Writers of America. Off Like the Wind: The First Ride Of The Pony Express published in the spring of 2010 was the winner of the Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Museum for best Juvenile book. He is also the author of Texas Rangers: Legendary Lawmen and Baseball From A to Z. Upcoming projects include a novel called The Raven's Shadow, which will be published by G.P. Putnam's Sons. The Raven's Shadow is set in Philadelphia and Washington DC in the 1820’s and features a teen age Abraham Lincoln, Charles Darwin and Edgar Allan Poe who must band together to defeat an evil the modern world will come to know as Count Dracula. Spradlin will release his first adult novel Blood Riders in August 2012. Blood Riders tells the story of Jonas Hollister, a disgraced cavalry officer who must defeat a group of supernatural creatures to restore his reputation and regain his freedom from prison. He will also team with illustrator Jeff Weigel for a Summer 2012 release called The Monster ABC Book a delightfully colorful book for children. Check the Coming Soon page soon for details. When not writing, he enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with his family and worrying over the fact that he really should be writing instead of doing other stuff. He lives in Michigan with his wife Kelly, son Michael, daughter Rachel and two dogs Willow and Apollo. |

Comida, Comida, ¿Qué Comemos? | by Riley Weber May 01, 2012 | $2.99 | 300 words | Sample 40% |
| Author bio: Riley Weber resides in Mesa, Arizona. He has been telling (and making up) stories since he was young. Many moons ago, Riley's favorite topic in grade school was not recess, but creative writing. Recess and lunch came second and third. He loves to write stories of adventures in far (and close) away lands. His inspiration comes from his two young boys who love all things that have to do with diggers, dinosaurs, sports, cars, and chicken nuggets. His stories are tried and tested on his two little munchkins. Riley has always had a passion for art and doodling. He draws cartoons on nearly every paper that comes within arms length of his hands. Recently, he has fined tuned some of his art and writing skills by studying painting and fine art at the local community college. He has also taken courses in writing and storytelling, and writes stories and songs in his free time. Riley has composed and recorded dozens of songs for children which are available worldwide by the character he invented; Nooshi the Balloon Dude. Some of Riley's compositions by Nooshi are top children's Easter, Halloween, and birthday songs. Just recently Riley has dove into the world of authoring and illustrating ebooks. He has many future books ideas with plans to write and illustrate them himself. If you'd like a sneak peak at Riley's next project or would like to find out what other books he has available, visit his website at www.rileyweberart.com. My Mom Ate My Homework | by De Kenyon May 01, 2012 | $0.99 | 3627 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Are you a kid who threatens the monsters under your bed, even when you're scared? Do you know exactly what to do if zombies attack--grab a shotgun and run? Do your parents say things like, "Do you ever sit still? Really?" but then have to shake you in order to get your attention while you're reading or playing a video game? Would you like to decorate your room in skulls and bunnies? If so, then have I got stories for you. I grew up telling my brother and cousins stories on our farm whenever we got bored. I would start up the story, and everybody would act it out. We got in lots of fights over who was boss of the story, and I lost a lot of time. I once got so mad that I told my brother we were playing hide and seek instead and locked him in the shed where he was hiding. I think he forgave me…eventually. My first novel, Choose Your Doom: Zombie Apocalypse, lets you choose how you’re going to fight a zombie invasion. Warning: you die. Sometimes, you turn into a zombie and then you die. But can you save the world before you kick the bucket? See any major bookstore in order to buy a copy. “This is how I like my zombies: fast and funny. Choose this book, and you won’t be choosing your doom. You’ll be choosing hours of gooey, gory hilarity.†- Steve Hockensmith, New York Times best-selling author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls My real name is DeAnna Knippling, which I use when I’m writing scary, space/science fiction, or fantasy books for grownups. My husband’s last name is Kenyon (and so is my daughter’s), so that’s the last name I use when I’m writing books for kids. I have a website at www.dekenyon.com. |

Camelot Chronicles: The Camelot Prophecies #2 | by Lady Antiva May 01, 2012 | $2.99 | 65604 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: I am Lady Antiva, the new Makidon Guildmaster, recently promoted from being a Senior High Guildman (a too masculine term in my view). I live in Camelot city, and play a crucial role in chronicling various lore of Bretunia. Hence, I have been bestowed the honor as being the co-author of 'The Book of Lore', deputy to Porthios, the Loremaster. I am entrusted with the Guild Fellowship Staff, a tall slender rod of gold metal, encrusted with complex runes, impeccably carved, some small enough to cover with a finger yet more complex than a spider’s web. The top of the Staff is curled into a fanciful hook, a symbol of unity and brotherhood.. I welcome you to write to me at ladyantiva@gmail.com and I will happy share with you my notes, drawings, sketches and previews! |

The Princelings and the Pirates | by Jemima Pett May 01, 2012 | $2.99 | 38944 words | Sample 23% |
| Author bio: I have been writing since I was about 8 years old. The evidence is a small booklet found in my mother’s box of treasures, written in a very childish hand, entitled The Little Stream. I've been creating articles and event reports for newsletters and magazines ever since, often with a slightly fictional theme, but early attempts at novels failed for want of suitable inspiration: characters and plot were sadly missing! I had a career in business and in environmental research that kept me gainfully employed but chained to a desk for many years. But I kept writing: manuals, reports, science papers, blogs, journals, anything and everything that kept the words flowing. Finally the characters jumped into my head with stories that needed to be told. I now live in a village in Norfolk with my guinea pigs, the first of whom, Fred, George, Victor and Hugo, provided the inspiration for the stories. Sadly Fred (pictured) followed George and Hugo across the Rainbow Bridge in 2011, but he knew that publication was on its way. And he knew he was a star anyway. |

The Heart and the Crown | by Stephen M. DeBock April 30, 2012 | $3.99 | 8571 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Stephen DeBock writes on just about any topic but for fun concentrates on sci-fi/fantasy adventure and supernatural fiction. As a teenager, Steve would entertain (and frighten) the neighborhood children by retelling them stories from E.C. horror comics like The Crypt of Terror. As a middle school teacher, he continued the tradition by reading his students a horror story to initiate the school year. Now retired, he has time to write his own stories. His first writing success came as a high school senior, when a 25-word essay won him an all-expenses-paid vacation in Alaska. Upon his return he entered the Marines and was chosen to serve in the President’s Honor Guard. Vignettes from that venue have appeared in American Heritage magazine and in various newspapers. Upon leaving the Corps, Steve worked days, went to college at night, and spent weekends earning a private pilot’s certificate. A flying narrative he wrote was published in AOPA Pilot Online. During his teaching career, Steve garnered an award by the State of New Jersey for his work in consumer education. He served briefly as a consultant for Consumers Union and contributed to essays in Time magazine, ABC’s World News Tonight, and CNBC. Having founded and later sold a video rental business, Steve and his wife also sold their home and lived for three years aboard a 42-foot sea-going trawler yacht. An article describing one of their summer cruises was sold to Living Aboard magazine. Steve has written newsletters for both private and non-profit organizations; a flash fiction story for the children’s magazine Spider; and the text for a coffee-table book on one of America’s most-collected living artists: The Art of H. Hargrove. He and his wife Joy live in Hershey, Pennsylvania. |

Lavinia's Window | by Michelle Weisen April 30, 2012 | $2.99 | 60318 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Pennsylvania resident, Michelle Weisen is a literary paradox. The English professor-turned-author writes with the delicate sensibilities of a Victorian mistress/dowager and the strident/clear convictions of a contemporary feminist. The bridge between these seemingly contradictory archetypes is masterfully forged in Lavinia’s Window, her first novel and third children’s book. It was self-published in 2008 by Philadelphia-based Words of Mercy press. Weisen was inspired to write her first book, In My Own World, by a friend’s son who is autistic. Brilliantly illustrated by Paul Mahoney, the book won the 2007 Dragonpencil Award for Superior Illustration. Spurred by her early success, Weisen co-wrote a second children’s book that year, Wildlife Rescue Rangers, with Paul’s wife, artist Tracy Mahoney. Their aim was simple: to raise kids’ awareness of the plight of wildlife in an increasingly fragile ecosystem. As a person who cares deeply about kids and the environment, Weisen donates a portion of the proceeds from each book to nonprofit organizations benefiting children. Her Pennsylvania-based publishing company, Words of Mercy, promotes literature that gives children a positive outlook on the world and shows them tangible ways to make the world a better place. “Our books focus on the importance of caring for one another and preserving the earth, providing children and their families with enriched reading experiences,†she says. Weisen earned her master’s in English from Florida International University in Miami where she taught writing and, after moving to Pennsylvania five years ago, she has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Delaware and, most recently, Penn State University. Her graduate work focused on American and British “domestic fiction,†a genre popular between 1850 and 1880. “I love all things Victorian,†she said, especially the early best-sellers written by well-educated women who couldn’t work but were gifted, if unpaid, novelists. They wrote about their lives and families, often featuring plucky young heroines who had a strong moral compass and a penchant for adventure. Lavinia’s Window fits that model but incorporates updated themes of empowerment, self-reliance, and independence. Michelle has completed the sequel, Lavinia’s Heart, which is available now. A self-described “old soul,†Weisen lives in State College, Pennsylvania with her husband Art, and their menagerie of four turtles (parting gifts from former students), Morgan, a rescued labrador retriever and a very spoiled pug named Elmo. |

(As the weeks pass, I shall be getting more and more of them up and running on Smashwords.) Please visit The Wallace Boys Web Site to find out more about the books, and there is more about me too. |

King Arthur's Legacy: The Camelot Prophecies #1 | by Lady Antiva April 29, 2012 | $2.99 | 71777 words | Sample 15% |
