Big Bad Wolf by Julie Schronk Big Bad Wolf by Julie Schronk Dec. 20, 2010 $2.99 30725 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
Hi, my name is Julie and I write books! I also eat, sleep, pet cats, but mostly I'm dedicated to the written word-a real bookworm if you will. A few years back I conceived of a series from one word that flashed across my brain...FRANKENSWINE! Wow, it hit me like a ton of bricks that this could be the seed of a series of books for Y.A. readers and above that are take-offs of traditional horror classics such as Frankenstein and The Werewolf. Yes, I could re-engineer the classics to my liking with animal characters. I began tinkering around. I sat right down, like most writers do and penned the book... DR. FRANKENSWINE about a mad scientist PIG named Oinkter Frankenswine who journeys to Darmstadt to take up his EVIL legacy, and along with the most lame assistant imaginable...HOGOR, the two set out to create the perfect MONSTER! Sounds like Frankenstein, doesn't it??? Only in my version, the main characters are PIGS. From that germ of an idea came the 2nd book in the series... THE WEREWOOF-Sherlock Hound of Scottie Yard and his trusty assistant, Woofton are hot on the trail of the WEREWOOF in London. Werewoof? Then came Book #3...CATULA...The Count is on the loose in London being chased by Jonathan Clawer, Miss Meowna, Dr. van Hissing and a whole cast of CAT characters, written in diary style the same as DRACULA-a spoof from the original classic. Soon I intend to pen THE BANTAM OF THE OPERA which will finish the series. My other books listed here on Smashwords for purchase are... Big Bad Wolf-the Wolf's side of the story from Fairy Tale lore...he wants you to hear his side! Waiting for Aliens...Alien spoof book about a horrid old couple who go on a madcap adventure of Waiting For Aliens Dogchiatrist-Dr. Barkley Jones treats dog patients helping them overcome their fears The Grass Grows Green-historical novel about racial prejudice. Yes, I write books, books are my life, reading, too! I hope you will see them and purchase some and give some reviews, too! My new Adult book is SCROOGE, THE VAMPIRE-the monster mash-up book of Dickens' beloved classic A Christmas Carol. Scary! Funny! You'll never think of Scrooge the same way again after reading it. When I'm not writing, I'm painting my own original folk art and selling it on Ebay weekly and in galleries across the U.S. I've placed paintings in fine homes in nearly every state in the union! Am most well known for my black folk art though I'm not African-American. But writing is my very first love! I reside in Hillsboro, TX, 60 miles south of Dallas where I grew, write and pet cats! I will have new books coming soon!

Just Like Jonah Wail Tales by Cheryl Rogers Just Like Jonah Wail Tales by Cheryl Rogers Dec. 18, 2010 $2.99 11370 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
A Christian author based in Tampa, Florida, Cheryl Rogers is a former newspaper reporter who came to know the Lord as an adult through a serious illness. Her love of writing was evident as a child when she became fascinated with Nancy Drew Mystery stories. Because she wanted a "practical" career, she studied Journalism and sociology and graduated with a double degree. She then worked for 12 years in the newspaper business, leaving when she was expecting her and her husband's first child. Three years later Cheryl succumbed to a severe immune disorder, Environmental Illness. She realized God was her only hope and prayed he would heal her. But though she went to church regularly, she did not really know God. At first, Cheryl believed God wanted her to go the "medical route," and so she scoured the area and then the country for doctors with experience with her disease. She followed their programs and got better, then worse, better, and then much much worse. Finally one day when her life was at its lowest point, she surrendered her life and circumstances to God -- and he showed up. She received the Holy Spirit and began to view her circumstances in a more positive light. Each day her body got stronger and -- about five months later -- she received deliverance. Her life has never been the same since. Cheryl has dedicated herself to encouraging others to seek God and stay connected with his Word. She has written several Christian titles including a devotions book, "Fast Track to Victory, A Christian Guidebook," aimed at those eager to run the race set before them. This book distills the biblical truths we need to truly love and forgive others, set aside pride, deal with tragedy and death and lots more. Written for a non-denominational audience, Fast Track encourages readers to spend time regularly with God in his word and in prayer. "I longed for a book that would teach me the basic biblical principles I'd missed out on earlier in life," Cheryl says."When I didn't find one, I wrote it myself." Cheryl also has written "Just Like Jonah Wail Tales," a collection of exaggerated tales of woe aimed at preteen and teens. In each story a modern day character makes bad choices and lands in a whale of trouble, just like Jonah in the Bible. The book teaches that there's a price to pay when you disobey, but God is faithful to change your circumstances when you turn to him. For the 5-10 year old set, Cheryl has written a children's Bible study entitled "Making Choices: Life is Like Acorns." This book teaches things are not always what they appear to be. The story is about a baby squirrel who learns acorns are not always good to eat, even when they may look like it. Some are rotten and some are empty. Children learn God looks at the heart. Her book "What You Should KNOW About Self Publishing" is aimed at would-be authors and provides them the nuts and bolts necessary to develop their ideas into salable books. These practical tips are intended to save readers time and money! "What You Should Know Before You Hire a Book Designer" is a free ebook to help authors sidestep mistakes that will cost them time and money in the design phase of publishing a book. Cheryl also keep busy taking nature photographs, designing Scripture-inscribed gifts with her nature images, and assisting authors with book covers, interior design and formatting, editing and proofreading and other aspects of self publishing. Her nature images are available for purchase at NaturePhotoDownloads.com Cheryl's online magazine, New Christian Books, is a free publication for readers and writers. It features kingdom-building book announcements and excerpts, author marketing tips, a practical biblical advice column, features and book reviews. At her website, SongsfromtheWord.com, Cheryl also shares traditionally inspired Scripture songs inspired by the Word of God. "I really can't take credit for them," she says.
