Wrong Way Street by Joshua Merrick Wrong Way Street by Joshua Merrick May 05, 2012 $2.99 68372 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
I have always been a creative one (just ask my mom how many stories I told her), delighting in arts: painting, leathercrafting, pen and ink, sculpture, poetry, acting, comedy and now beginning my foray as an author with my first novel, Wrong Way Street. I have enjoyed a varied and exciting career path, everything from cowboying to wildlife conservation, construction to private protection, teaching to translating, and many other completely unrelated disciplines (just for the fun of it). I am a college graduate (again, an enigmatic experience: science, computer programming, engineering, foreign languages, linguistics, history, theatre, acting, rodeo, wilderness survival, fitness/health... you get the idea). I'd like to think my unique and rich life experience lends itself to my writing.

UnGodly Sins by Penn Carol UnGodly Sins by Penn Carol May 05, 2012 $9.99 127939 words Sample 35%
Author bio:
Author Penn Carol is a published author who has written six books under the pen name Carolina Barbour for the erotica genre and Siren Publishing. Though she enjoys tantalizing readers with steamy sex scenes and murder plot twists her first love has always been suspense thrillers. UnGodly Sins is her debut into the mystery-writing genre. As with her erotica novels Penn enjoys weaving a tale of mystery and suspense that keeps her readers on the edge of their seats. She doesn’t feel satisfied until the reader has laughed, cried, and felt all the emotions of her characters through each chapter. She writes the characters to feel real, a person you know, love, or hate, and you become emotionally attached to the story as well as the characters she created. Penn doesn’t mind taking you there. You wouldn’t find that cliché writing that ends the way you want it to or thought it would. Instead, she writes to deliver a novel that takes you on a continuous roller-coaster ride with all the bells and whistles, gotcha, and then some. From the first chapter to the last, you will enjoy turning the pages to see what happens next and she doesn’t disappoint. Penn Carol is a native Hoosier from Indianapolis, Indiana, but has resided in Texas for some twenty-odd years. She lives and enjoys life with her husband, sons, and two feisty miniature Schnauzers. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading good romance, erotica, and mystery novels when she isn’t barricaded in her office writing.

Death Wears High Heels by M. R. Sellars Death Wears High Heels by M. R. Sellars May 04, 2012 $5.99 297985 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
A member of the ITW (International Thriller Writers), M. R. Sellars is a relatively unassuming homebody who, in his own words, considers himself just a “guy with a lot of nightmares and a word processing program.” Legend has it he started making up stories to entertain a stuffed bear during his single digit years, then began writing them down sometime around his early teens when the growing catalogue of fiction started causing him to experience migraines. Although he had several short stories and newspaper articles published during his early adult life, it wasn’t until 2000 that his first full-length novel, Harm None: A Rowan Gant Investigation, hit bookstore shelves, officially launching the acclaimed paranormal thriller series. Sellars says that the biggest adjustment he has had to make with his writing career is coping with the time spent away from his family while traveling on promotional tours. Still, he approaches the necessity of public appearances with the same humorously deadpan and satirical wit that he applies to life in general, stating, “As long as I have an RC Cola and a bag of peanuts, I’m all good, Bubba.” All of the current novels in Sellars’ continuing Rowan Gant Investigations saga have spent several consecutive weeks on numerous bookstore bestseller lists as well as a consistent showing on the Amazon.com Horror/Occult top 100. In 2010 a short e-novella featuring a supporting character from the RGI cast spawned a new series, The Special Agent Constance Mandalay Novels, the first in the spinoff being IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER, which hit the streets November 2011. Sellars currently resides in the Midwest with his incomparably amazing wife, equally fantastic daughter, and a pair of felines he describes as, “the competition.” At home, when not writing or taking care of the household, he indulges his passions for cooking and hanging out with friends. In order to satisfy his lifelong dream of being a satirical humor columnist for a major metropolitan newspaper, twice each week he removes his glasses, dons blue tights and a red cape, then blogs about the incredibly bizarre world that is his life as a writer, husband, and father. It has been said that his blog articles sometimes blur the line between fiction and reality. To that Sellars responds, “What line?” M. R. Sellars can be located on the web wherever there is a virtual bar serving virtual single malt Scotch, single barrel bourbon, good Irish whisky, and decent beer. In other words, look for him on the major social networking sites.

“Where did these rocks come from?” asked the geology professor. The fifty or so students ambling among the pile of stones at the bottom of the hill offered answers in tentative voices: a Precambrian ocean, an ancient river, the continental shelf …. The professor shouted “No!” to each answer. Then a skinny, prematurely balding student pointed at the top of the hill with his rock hammer and said in a ringing voice, “They come from up there!” “Exactly!” boomed the professor. That skinny boy was me. I’ve always had a flair for pointing out the embarrassingly obvious. Friends and colleagues say I have a gift for explanation, clarification, synthesis. I’m also fascinated by darned near everything. Which explains why I: Have a geology degree, nearly earned a degree in biology, nearly earned a master’s degree in journalism, spent a decade as a magazine writer and editor, did five-and-a-half-years of night school to get a master’s degree in financial analysis (of all things), and once tried my hand as an independent financial consultant. I like challenges. If I feel ignorant about something, that motivates me to figure it out. My work credits include: DFW Writers’ Conference, for which I was Director in 2011 Founder and sole member of Jeff Posey Enterprises LLC, the business entity for both my Author and Corporate work Javelin Marketing Group, where I labored on more than 80 pitches to prospective clients and placed nearly 50 stories in the trade press Carter & Burgess Inc. (now Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.), where I managed external and internal communications Free Range Communications Group Inc., a marketing/communications company I founded and managed for five years VHA Inc., where I started up and managed a book-publishing division American Way magazine where I managed more than fifty freelance writers and started up a fiction section D Magazine, where as City Editor covering Dallas politics I learned over and over that nothing is as it seems Sun Exploration and Production Co., where I looked for (and found) oil and gas deposits The University of Dallas and Fun/Ed Inc., where I taught people how to write fiction Along the way, I’ve earned an award for investigative magazine journalism, gathered more than a dozen speaking awards with Toastmasters International, and published about a half-dozen short stories with small literary magazines.

Zero Balance by Ashley Fontainne Zero Balance by Ashley Fontainne May 03, 2012 $3.99 82966 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
A little bit about me... I have always been an avid reader of mostly the classics: Beowulf, The Iliad and anything written by the master, William Shakespeare. In the last few years, I became a huge fan of James Patterson, Stephen King , John Grisham and Robin Cook. However.... My favorite book of all was, and always will be, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. The revenge on all those who hurt and betrayed Edmond Dantes and the incredible roller coaster ride his journey takes you on has always intrigued me. My love for this book is what sparked my desire to write my debut novel in my Eviscerating the Snake series, "Accountable to None." With a modern setting to the tale, I wanted to delve into just what lengths a person was willing to go to as they attempted to seek justice on their own for heinous acts perpetrated on them. The second novel in the series, "Zero Balance" (available now!) will focus on the cost and reciprocal cycle that obtaining revenge has on the seeker. For once the cycle starts, where does it end?

A native of Washington State, Collin grew up NOT liking reading stories or school in general. Girls, sports, and working held much more appeal for the young Collin. He graduated from Moses Lake High School despite lack of regular attendance then journeyed forth towards Boise State in Idaho where he received a B.A. in Social Science. His dream was to practice law with his father and brother; a dream that he pursued vigorously in his undergraduate education. Little did he know that his father would leave the practice of law and his brother would make plans to head to Costa Rica. While these career developments were unexpected, even more unexpected was Collin's growing interest in writing and story telling. After reading several stories (averaging a book a week for almost a whole year), he developed a story idea and started to write. Podcast novels, self publishing, eBooks and writing in general were much like his move to SOUTH DAKOTA (Yes, I said South Dakota); random and totally unexpected. Collin spent a year writing a story with a Roman Gods theme then came to a real and terrible realization: Fantasy fans are brutal. Absolutely brutal! If they like you, man they REALLY like you. If they don>t...well let>s not talk about that. From that moment, Collin spent many hours reworking his first novel, The House of Grey into a story that Fantasy fans (and everyone else hopefully) will enjoy, gleaning ideas from many independent literary sources from Indian folklore to Japanese anime. After graduating from the University of South Dakota Law School, Collin, his smoldering wife, and two beautiful daughters moved down the street from his Producer and co-author Chris Snelgrove in good ol' Colorado. Collin passed the Bar and is currently working as an attorney and vigorously writing fantastical stories for his fans. In 2007, Chris approached Collin Earl with an idea to produce the serialized audio version of a Roman Gods themed novel that Collin had been writing for some time. About a year later, The House of Grey was released and was an instant success on iTunes and Podiobooks.com holding onto a spot in the Top Ten for more than a year straight. After the success of The House of Grey, Chris and Collin collaborated to craft Harmonics starting with the first season: Rise of the Magician. Each wrote different character's perspective in the story and blending their writing styles to create this unique story. Chris has lived in a number of places in this great country called the United States, including Utah, Maryland, Florida, California, and Arizona. He eventually ended up in Colorado almost 20 years ago and currently lives just outside Denver with his beautiful wife and four wonderful boys. He graduated the University of Colorado at Denver with a B.A. in Psychology and currently works as a corporate trainer and business systems analyst for a Fortune 100 insurance company.

I always loved making up stories, especially when I was a kid getting into trouble, which happened quite often. They were incredible, and hard to believe, but they worked. I only got spanked half of the time. Plus it was an easy way to make friends. I was the ugly duckling that always got picked on, and it was better to make things up, than get beat up. All those crazy stories running around in my head eventually found their way down on paper, and my love for making up stories turned to writing them. Unfortunately, after high school I stopped. I found myself married with children, and without any time to write. For the past twenty years nursing has been my love. Then I lost my job and everything that I owned. I ended up with nothing and almost lost my mind. I had so many crazy thoughts running wild in my head that I almost snapped, then I decided to write them all down. It was either that, or be in a drunken stupor all the time. Now I'm back to my first love, writing, and that's the only thing that kept me from going completely over the edge.

Computer Science graduate who has been working in the retail sector for the past eight years. My lifetime ambition was to write a novel. I decided to write the crime thriller that I always wanted to read - suspenseful, full of intrigue and, of course, some blood spilled along the way! I hope you take a look and enjoy the story. I've lived and breathed these characters for the past two years and letting them go is going to be very difficult - I just hope they flourish out there in the big bad world on their own!

I was born in Paisley, Scotland in December 1982 and spent the first seven years of my life living in the village of Bishopton. In late 1989 the family moved south of the border to Knowle, a large village near Solihull in the West Midlands region of England. I received my first taste of publication while at school, having a poem included in a school anthology. I studied IT and then received A levels in Art and Graphic Design. After college I studied graphic design at Southampton Solent University for a short time. Since then I have concentrated mostly on my writing, while occasionally keeping up my design work. I appeared on the 2011-2012 series of the BBC’s Mastermind quiz show where I reached the semi-final. My interests include sport, particularly football and rugby, film, news and current affairs, politics, television and reading. My taste is for edgy, fast-moving fiction set in the real world. I enjoy both historical and contemporary novels but prefer them to be rooted in reality. I am personally not a fan of fantasy or science fiction. While the quality of the story is crucial for me, I do not believe that plot or character should be sacrificed for the other, as the best novels have both. It is important to strive for the best writing possible, however the pursuit of perfect prose should not be at the expense of forward momentum in the story. My influences include Jack Higgins, Tom Clancy and George Pelecanos, and my three favourite novels are Higgins’ The Eagle Has Landed, Clancy’s The Hunt for Red October and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold by John Le Carre. I have a keen interest in history which comes across in my work, and I pride myself on my research and historical accuracy.
Ghoul Squad by M. R. Sellars Ghoul Squad by M. R. Sellars May 02, 2012 $5.99 333060 words Sample 20%

Mark Chisnell writes the kind of stories that keep you turning the pages on holiday, and still thinking about them when you get back to work ... The books include the chart-topping thrillers, The Defector, The Wrecking Crew and The Fulcrum Files - as well as award-winning works of non-fiction. He's a former professional sportsman, and now also works as a broadcaster and journalist, writing for some of the world’s leading magazines and newspapers, including Esquire and the Guardian. Probably his greatest achievement was hitch-hiking to Mt Everest base-camp in Tibet. In training shoes. Or maybe that was the stupidest.
