Ashes to Ashley: A Novel | by Robert E. Shaw April 29, 2012 | $2.99 | 82692 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: Robert Shaw has served numerous congregations: twice as an installed Pastor, twice as a trained Interim Pastor, and innumerable times as a guest preacher. Currently he Pastors a congregation seeking intentionally to meet the needs of their community. The stress and joy of leading congregations through change continues to enrich his life. The characters in his novels would feel at home in these congregations. The Reverend Shaw has also served the larger church as a Synod moderator and moderator of church development committees in two synods. Prior to and alongside his ministry of Word and Sacrament, he labored as a Systems Engineer supporting the US Navy. In his alternate career he has numerous publications to his credit including technical proposals, system specifications, operator’s manuals, engineering reports, and presentations. He likens proposals writing to good fiction: each must stack up enough solid evidence for a reader to easily climb before stepping out onto ethereal fantasy and believe truths revealed aloft. In his first career, as a commissioned officer in the US Navy, Lieutenant Shaw supervised the operation of a Naval submarine nuclear reactor and taught physics to enlisted operators. Attention to detail in his novels stems from these formative experiences. Robert and his wife, Lori, have two adult children. |

| Author bio: wo of Emma’s favorite childhood memories are of typing out nonsense words on her parents’ black Royal manual typewriter, and watching the neighbor mow the lawn. She went to Beloit College, where she majored in English, then moved to Minneapolis, where there are two seasons: Snow removal and road repair. (Or, as it sometimes seems, snow repair and road removal.) After that, she moved back to her native southern California, where she would’ve driven with the top down if she’d had a convertible. She was a resident of the Republic of Bisbee (AZ) and loved it (except on the few days of the year when there was snow). And now she’s living in Tucson, Arizona, where she would ride the range if she had a pony. But she does have a great cowboy hat. She’s written novels, screenplays, a children’s book, and short stories. She and her husband, Will Shetterly, are members of the Interstate Writers’ Workshop, aka The Scribblies. Emma and Will conduct writing workshops now and then; they’ve taught in Los Angeles, at Clarion West, the Pima Writers Workshop, and elsewhere. Emma played guitar and sang in the Flash Girls, a goth-folk duo. She was a member of Cats Laughing, a psychedelic improv folk-jazz band that included Steven Brust, Adam Stemple, Lojo Russo, and Bill Colsher. She is the producer for Shadow Unit, a webfiction project she shares with Elizabeth Bear, Sarah Monette, Will Shetterly, and Amanda Downum. It combines novella-length episodes of a series story with hypertext “DVD extras†and character on-line journals. Contributing writers in its eight-episode second “season†include Holly Black and Leah Bobet. |

Code 4 Crucial | by Wayne Meyer April 25, 2012 | $2.99 | 115305 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: I was born in Spokane Washington, in 1958 and graduated from North Central High in 1976. I attended the Spokane Community College and obtained an AA degree in police science. I graduated at 19 and within a week, I was working as a cadet for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. At 21, I was hired as a deputy and worked there for five years. I later went to work for Wenatchee PD. I worked there for six years then decided I needed another change. I transferred to the Kennewick PD and have been working there since. Note: If you draw a line between the three departments, it forms a scalene triangle. It has been my personal Bermuda triangle, because a good career was lost somewhere inside. I have spent my entire career working patrol and plan to continue to do so. In my opinion working the streets is what police work is all about. Patrol is the backbone of police work, but ironically it is often treated as a much lower part of the anatomy. I was married to Andrea from 1987 to 2010. Unfortunately as in many police marriages we also ended in divorce. We have two children, a twenty-two year old boy named Dayne and a nine-teen year-old girl named Danyelle. I started this project as a form of therapy. The story was inspired by some officers that needed it also. The time I spent working on it assisted me in dealing with some of the stresses associated with the job. Friends and family whom read it, then encouraged me to have it published. So if you felt it was a waste of time, please blame them. |

The Ex Who Wouldn't Die | by Sally Berneathy April 24, 2012 | $2.99 | 85153 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Welcome to my world! Come in, pull up a chair, grab a glass of iced tea and let's chat. I grew up in a small rural town in Oklahoma where our favorite entertainment on summer evenings was to sit outside under the stars and tell stories. When I went to bed at night, instead of a lullaby, I got a story. That could be due to the fact that everybody in my family has a singing voice like a bullfrog with laryngitis, but they sure could tell stories—ghost stories, funny stories, happy stories, scary stories. For as long as I can remember I've been a storyteller. Thank goodness for computers so I can write down my stories. It's hard to make listeners sit still for the length of a book! Like my family, my stories are funny, scary, dramatic, romantic, paranormal, magic. Besides writing, my interests are reading, eating chocolate and riding my Harley. Currently I have two e-pubbed cozy mysteries, Death by Chocolate and 'Til Death. I am currently working a sequel to Death by Chocolate and hope to have that available in a couple of months. I have sold fifteen romance novels ranging from comedy to dark suspense under the names Sally Carleen, Sally Steward and Sara Garrett. For these novels, I won several awards including National Readers' Choice, Romantic Times Best Silhouette Romance and two Rita finalist slots. Most of the Silhouettes are available as e-books, and I have e-pubbed three of the out-of-print single titles. Contact information is available on my website. I love to talk to readers! Okay, I just plain love to talk! http://www.sallyberneathy.com |
