Author bio:
Nick Spalding is an author who, try as he might, can't seem to write anything serious. He's worked in the communications industry his entire life, mainly in media and marketing. As talking rubbish for a living can get tiresome (for anyone other than a politician), he thought he'd have a crack at writing comedy fiction - with an agreeable level of success so far, it has to be said. Nick lives in the South of England with his fiancée. He is approaching his forties with the kind of dread usually associated with a trip to the gallows, suffers from the occasional bout of insomnia, and still thinks Batman is cool. If you fancy getting in contact with Nick (including any agents or publishers who want throw a hefty contract his way) then visit his website at spaldings-racket.blogspot.com / add him on Twitter: @spalding_author / add him on Facebook: Nick Spalding / or email him at nick.spalding@hotmail.co.uk.

Except Greg, because he’s never sorry. Once, when he was nine, he accidently dropped some ice cream on the floor and didn’t apologize. He was just like “Whatever, toots,” and rode away on his bitchin’ hog.

Like A Diamond by Andrew Kelly Like A Diamond by Andrew Kelly April 14, 2012 $2.99 62165 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
My name's Andrew Kelly - and I refuse to write my bio in the third person, alright? First things first: What do I do to pay the mortgage and put food in my kiddies' mouths? Well, I've spent much of my long career in IT helping corporates comply with their legislative, regulatory and information security requirements. It's what I do - and I'm sorry to disappoint - but more often than not I have 'Consultant' somewhere in my title. Now that we've got that out of the way ... what about my writing? Not so unusually in an author, I was first - and remain - this avid reader of all types of fiction: thrillers, SF, adventure, pulp, fantasy, humour, whatever. The only difference between when I was in short trousers and now is - I do my reading these days on a Kindle. Then, over a decade ago now, while working away from home (then Windsor in the UK), I reckoned it was about time I started to write. My first effort took me an absolute age, and was this dark, deep-and-meaningful military thriller set in '90's civil-war torn Tajikistan. And okay: It was as dull, dank and tedious as it sounds, yeah? By year two I'd scribed around 75,000 words ... and my story was so going nowhere. Very slowly. Then a friend said: "Y'know, you've got a great sense of humour? Why not write something ... humourous? Oh, and it's your round, dude." So I did. And six months later I'd finished 'My Cup Runneth'. This UK- and European-based humourous action-thriller based around a search for a long lost artifact. I, and of course, reckoned it was the 'Next Big Thing' but - surprise! surprise! - no publisher wanted to know. This was well before the days of self-publishing on the InterWeb, alright? Later, another friend said: "Y'know, you've got a great sense of humour - and as you're back in New Zealand now? Why not write something humourous set here? Oh, and mine's a Chardonnay, dude." With that I sat down and totally rewrote 'My Cup Runneth' as 'Like A Diamond'. Now this New Zealand-based humourous action-thriller ... based around a search for a long lost artifact. And this one was actually good enough to (nearly) get conventionally published by a local company. Who later pulled out of negotiations - with no explanation - after months of 'too-ing and fro-ing'. 'Frustrating' doesn't begin to describe it! With that, 'Like A Diamond' was relegated to the far corner of my Dell's C drive, where it gathered virtual dust for three years. Then, in 2011, I decided I'd mourned long enough, and that enough was enough here, so I began writing again. Three months later, 'Light-Fingered Lucy' was completed. Now I did try approaching conventional agents and publishers, but there was a recession on and no one, no way, wanted to have anything to do with a 'non-entity' like me. Couldn't blame them but ... discouraging! Then I e-read that eBooks were so the future. And decided who was I to stand in the way of progress, yeah? So I got down and uploaded 'Light-Fingered Lucy' onto Smashwords. And of course! Happy once more, this spurred me on to un-relegate 'Like A Diamond'. Which, after a dusting off, I completely updated and rewrote. And you'll also find it up on Smashwords. Now my only (delicious) dilemma is: Which sequel to write first? Or ... should I try my hand at something new?

Author bio:
I was born and reared in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and moved to Omaha, NE in 2005. I was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease when I was seven. This visual impairment caused my central vision to deteriorate and I have been living with only seeing a small part of the world ever since. This lack of perception allowed my imagination to wander, and I have been telling myself stories and crafting new adventures in my head ever since. My hobbies include watching the Texas Rangers baseball team, enjoying Japanese animation, podcasting, playing role playing video games, reading fiction of all time periods, and watching historical documentaries. When I write, read, or watch media I like to analyze the stories from all angles and see the hidden special details that others might miss. When finishing a novel I often wonder what far reaching consequences would follow the characters for the rest of their lives. My first novel was an attempt to show how my original story idea would be felt by generations to come and how the decisions of one day could echo down the ages. I always want to know how happily the ever after turns out to be.

The Man Who Saw Tomorrow by Barnabas Herbert The Man Who Saw Tomorrow by Barnabas Herbert April 07, 2012 $1.99 12494 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
I start every single morning with a breakfast of iron. I eat nails and shit razors. Then I go to my computer and delete every single piece of fanmail I have recieved within the night without even bothering to read them. The amount of daily fanmail is measured in googolplexes. That is because I am a high-profile star and people would kill to be allowed the grace of touching my shoes. About 90% of the world population have my name tattooed somewhere on their skin. I currently work as the general manager of a multi-national investment firm that deals mainly with funding research for neutron and fusion bombs et cetera. I have my own private jet and I use 100 euro bills as my toilet paper. Once I smoked a blunt wrapped in the original copy of Shakespeare's MacBeth. In my spare time I am the justice given form. I put on a skin-tight moth costume and become Mothman, the dark crusader. I don't have many superpowers, but I have the Mothmobile - modified Talbot Horizon from the year 1984, a classic. My archnemesis is called "The Poker" and his evil plots mostly center around cheating in online card games. I have many talents. I possess a superior analytic intelligence and my knowledge about everything and all is beyond anything ever known to mankind before me. Compared to me, Machiavelli was a minor player, merely a pawn. He was dynamite but I am a tactical nuke. In fact I know the meaning of life. I can also write great poetry. Wanna see? "Peach, you fucking rule, Peach, you fucking rock. Peach get down on me 'n polish my knob." I have to be completely honest with you; I have enormous balls. You have possibly seen horses pack quite a bit in the genital section, so you might have some kind of a picture in your mind about my seed-sags. My balls have their own gravitational field. 9/11 wasn't actually a terrorist attack; It was me teabagging the WTC towers. My father is Thor, the God of Thunder, and my mother is the Hive Queen from Aliens. That mentioned you might already know why I don't dig bullshit applications. Because you want to know more about me you can read my biography. It's called "Beowulf".

Only in Manitou by Tamarin Rand Only in Manitou by Tamarin Rand April 06, 2012 $3.99 91459 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
The Author has lived in Manitou Springs and regularly attended the Coffin Races for almost a decade. Originally from Manhattan she is no stranger to the diversity of people and places and yet not a day passes by while living and working in Manitou that she doesn’t encounter a strange situational anomaly demonstrating the weirdness of Manitou life. She remains a outsider by Manitou standards by constantly witnessing Manitou’s weird happenings and thinking to herself “Now, that’s just plain weird! I should know better, after all it’s Manitou!” Since this writing two new characters have made their presence know in Manitou. Tricman can be seen in the late afternoon, struggling to ride his tiny child-sized tricycle up and down Manitou Avenue with an apparent invisible mission while in Soda Spring Park a gray bearded “Guru” clad in orange robes, counsels a growing number of Lattest gathering on Saturdays in the shade of the Pavilion to listen to his wisdom.
