Pamela Fagan Hutchins writes fiction and nonfiction about the myth of “having it all” from the busy position of having a little too much of everything: writer, mediocre endurance athlete (triathlon, marathons), wife, mom of an ADHD & Asperger’s son, five kids/step-kids, business owner, recovering employment attorney and human resources executive, consultant, and musician. She has five books dropping in 2012, all with SkipJack Publishing: Hot Flashes And Half Ironmans, How To Screw Up Your Kids, Love Gone Viral, Puppalicious and Beyond, and The Clark Kent Chronicles. She is also one of the authors of Easy To Love, But Hard To Raise from DRT Press and Prevent Workplace Harassment from the former Prentice Hall. She won Romance in the 2010 Writers’ League of Texas Manuscript Competition for Leaving Annalise, and she also won both Mainstream Fiction (2010, 2011 and 2012) and Narrative Non-fiction (2012) in the Houston Writers’ Guild’s Manuscript Competitions for Conceding Grace (novel) and How To Screw Up Your Kids (nonfiction book). Pamela is well-known for her Type A slightly OCD tendencies — and alphabet soup life — and for making everyone around her tired. She lives with her husband Eric and two high school-aged kids, plus 200 pounds of pets in Houston, but their hearts are still in St. Croix, USVI, along with those of their three oldest offspring. Born in Ottawa, fifty-two years ago, I have been the owner of a used bookstore I opened in Ontario, since 1990. I have been writing since I was ten. Beginning with poetry, I quickly moved on to short stories and non-fiction pieces. I stayed in that format for many years, eventually self-publishing a franchise manual, as well as a variety of booklets. Having semi-retired from the bookstore, I embarked on the project of writing my first serious novel, which I expanded to a four-book series after discovering an incredible mystery hidden within a French author's books. My interests are eclectic. I like Quantum Physics,Cosmology, history, archaeology, science in general, mechanics, free power, recycling and re-use. I'm a good handyman and can usually fix just about anything. I'm good with computers. I love movies, both good and bad, preferring action and war movies. I can draw and paint fairly well but am so obsessed with perspective and light that I cannot think of much else. I am too detail-oriented. I have been around books all my life. In my mid-forties, I decided to focus on writing as my future job. It took me five years to learn the trade. Now I know how fast I can write and how to develop my story and characters. I always wage an internal war to decide if my next story is going to be a mild mystery or a big stake epic. So far the big stakes are winning

The Nowhere Legion - Book Four by Francis Hagan The Nowhere Legion - Book Four by Francis Hagan April 25, 2012 $1.99 27013 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
I have been writing on and off since I was a shy lad hiding under the bed and scribbling in an out of date diary (I think it was about my space travels). Most of my works have been either plays populated with grotesques who stumble around ruins and those odd places we forget about or epic tales of those last Roman legionaries as they falter and fall at the end of Empire. Over the last three years, I have embarked on a series of plays which I have entitled 'The Ostraka Plays' and in which I am exploring that space where the irrational and the seductive collide. I remain fascinated by a poetics which allows an imagination to populate a forgotten nook in history outside our conventions and expectations. In these plays, the audience is invited into worlds which remain provisional and insecure - and where freedom is that release from convention. The other side of my writings could not be more opposite - in these stories, the dying light of Rome flutters one last desperate time as I seek to follow the last of the Eagles down into their fates. Here, archaeological record, literary fragments, and my own invention intertwine to set a stage ripe for heroics and betrayal.

Along the way, I decided to create the pen name "Suzie O'Neill" in order to provide myself with more creative freedom. I found that while I was writing under my real name I was often intimidated by what people would think of the stories I write. Using a pen name is incredibly freeing. "Crossroads: A Novel About Choice" is my first e-book. It was written for fun and is by far the goofiest story that I have ever written.

Author bio:
John Savage is one of the important figures in the history of the highly erotic and esoteric field of Bondage and Discipline. He came after the legendary John Willie, and before the period exemplified by the photography of Jay Edwards, et al. Just as Jay was an important link in the progression of bondage techniques leading up to the anything-goes extreme B&D of today, so was John Savage. The bondage he created and photographed represented a step beyond that of John Willie: more complex, tighter, more escape proof. John began by copying the work of John Willie but was soon adding his own touches. This is typical of the progress in the field. Both Jay Edwards and Dave Annis (probably the best strict bondage photographer today) have stated that they began by copying John Savage’s work, then adding to it. John began in 1969 with an article written for Barbara Behr of House of Milan. He was soon tying and photographing amateur models, sometimes selling the products freelance, but then working with Tao Productions to create a line of bondage magazines with such titles as “Best of Bondage,” “Taskmaster,” “Bondagemaster,” and the politically incorrect “Teenagers in Bondage.” (None of the models were underage, despite the title.) In the early 80’s he edited, wrote for and photographed a magazine series called “John Savage’s Notebooks.” These long-ago magazines today command a high price, if you can find them. In addition to magazines, he produced some of the old 8mm “loops,” and later VHS videos, the most famous being “Making Danielle Talk.” He has worked with Barbara Behr, Bob Bishop and F.E. Campbell. It was through his friendship with Frank Campbell that he became involved in the writing of B&D novels. Frank is still most prolific B&D novelist, credited with 100 books written for HOM. As Frank became older and had trouble typing, he began dictating books on audio tapes. John Savage then transcribed those books to computer disk for the publisher. Then came a time when Frank no long wished to write. At that point John began ghost-writing Frank’s novels. In fact, the last ten novels credited to Frank Campbell were actually written by John Savage. After Frank’s death, John began selling novel under his own name to House of Milan. He also wrote for Sandpiper Press, Olympia Press and Bon-Vue, all being published as paperbacks. For a while he dropped out of the marketplace but then came back when ebooks became popular. He is currently writing B&D novels for Strict Publishing, and occasionally non-B&D books under a different name. As to the man himself, he was born in 1943, is married and has two grown children. He is a Viet Nam era veteran. His main career has been in computers, ranging from programmer to systems analyst. He still programs computers and enjoys it. His B.S. and M.S. are in computer science, but in addition, he has a PhD in, of all fields, astronomy! This is the reason for the nickname “Doc” Savage being stuck on him (“Doc” Savage was a well-known fictional character from the 30’s). Today he lives in Solana Beach, California, enjoying his hobbies of astronomy, fishing and fast sports cars.

“Where did these rocks come from?” asked the geology professor. The fifty or so students ambling among the pile of stones at the bottom of the hill offered answers in tentative voices: a Precambrian ocean, an ancient river, the continental shelf …. The professor shouted “No!” to each answer. Then a skinny, prematurely balding student pointed at the top of the hill with his rock hammer and said in a ringing voice, “They come from up there!” “Exactly!” boomed the professor. That skinny boy was me. I’ve always had a flair for pointing out the embarrassingly obvious. Friends and colleagues say I have a gift for explanation, clarification, synthesis. I’m also fascinated by darned near everything. Which explains why I: Have a geology degree, nearly earned a degree in biology, nearly earned a master’s degree in journalism, spent a decade as a magazine writer and editor, did five-and-a-half-years of night school to get a master’s degree in financial analysis (of all things), and once tried my hand as an independent financial consultant. I like challenges. If I feel ignorant about something, that motivates me to figure it out. My work credits include: DFW Writers’ Conference, for which I was Director in 2011 Founder and sole member of Jeff Posey Enterprises LLC, the business entity for both my Author and Corporate work Javelin Marketing Group, where I labored on more than 80 pitches to prospective clients and placed nearly 50 stories in the trade press Carter & Burgess Inc. (now Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.), where I managed external and internal communications Free Range Communications Group Inc., a marketing/communications company I founded and managed for five years VHA Inc., where I started up and managed a book-publishing division American Way magazine where I managed more than fifty freelance writers and started up a fiction section D Magazine, where as City Editor covering Dallas politics I learned over and over that nothing is as it seems Sun Exploration and Production Co., where I looked for (and found) oil and gas deposits The University of Dallas and Fun/Ed Inc., where I taught people how to write fiction Along the way, I’ve earned an award for investigative magazine journalism, gathered more than a dozen speaking awards with Toastmasters International, and published about a half-dozen short stories with small literary magazines.
