Author bio:
A wind blown ripple in a slightly acidic pool of water on the supercontinent of Paranachia in the early Devonerovian era resulted in the molecular fusion of several prebiotic elements into the first chain of self replicating rhino nucleic acid, the precursor of all subsequent self replicating matter on the planet earth. This led to the development of the first unicellular lifeforms which ------- um, this bio, now that I think of it, might be bit too detailed. I'll get back to ya. Till then – the stories - love and romance in unusual or forbidden circumstance, perhaps at times a study of or search for limits (though I generally try to leave the conclusions to you). Some eroticism though more of an imaginative or speculative sort rather than blatantly descriptive eroticism with no other point to it.

Götterdämmerung by Lothar Meinerzhagen Götterdämmerung by Lothar Meinerzhagen May 19, 2011 $14.99 540865 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
Born in a small German village east of Cologne, Germany, Lothar E. Meinerzhagen after finishing school, expressed his desire to work in journalism. First step was the Deutsche Journalistenschule (German School of Journalism) in Munich, followed by an apprenticeship at the highly respected Munich newspaper Münchner Merkur under the leadership of famous anchorman Franz Wördemann. But he then realized that the next few decades were to be in the music industry where he managed to become an executive for EMI Music. He worked for the company in Cologne, London, Los Angeles and Berlin, working with acts such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen, Little Steven and David Bowie amongst many. In 2002 he decided to call it quits pursuing other interests. All his life he was interested in military history and developed an enormous know-how which enabled him to act as a battlefield guide to friends and business colleagues alike. He now set up his vision of a battlefield travel company that took numerous military buffs to the beaches of Normandy, Peenemünde, Berlin, the Western Front of WWI, Crimea, Stalingrad (Volgograd) and Monte Cassino in Italy just to name a few destinations. In these years he developed the idea to “Götterdämmerung” and other stories related to WWI and WWII. His enormous knowledge of these events, his highly skilled technique of using even the smallest and hardly known historic detail makes his novels so entertaining. Though Lothar Meinerzhagen enjoyed a classical education he is certainly not in favour of so called political correct books and other publications. Instead, he loves to quote Evelyn Beatrice Hall, who wrote under the pseudonym S.G.Tallentyre a biography of Voltaire with the title “The Friends of Voltaire”: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
A Cafe in Space: The Anais Nin Literary Journal--Complete Set by Anais Nin A Cafe in Space: The Anais Nin Literary Journal--Complete Set by Anais Nin Sep. 30, 2011 $9.99 518489 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
Anais Nin (1903-1977) was born in Neuilly-Sur-Seine, near Paris, and was the daughter of a renowned pianist and composer, Joaquin Nin. Abandoned by her father in 1913, she and her family traveled to New York, where she began her now famous diary, comprised of some 35,000 pages over a period of six decades. When the first volume of 'The Diary of Anais Nin' was published in 1966, it began Nin's meteoric surge to fame. However, often overlooked are the works of fiction she created, beginning with 'The House of Incest' in 1936, which was followed by a then-banned edition of a collection of novellas under the title 'The Winter of Artifice.' This original edition has been republished for the first time in 2007. Perhaps Nin's most acclaimed fiction is the series of short stories in 'Under a Glass Bell,' which she self-published in New York during the 1940s when no commercial publisher would take the risk. She then began a series of novels that were interconnected and finally collected into one volume entitled 'Cities of the Interior.' Her final novel was 'Collages,' about which Henry Miller said, "Even the finest collages fall apart with time; these will not." Anais Nin was one of the 20th century's most innovative and compelling artist, and now her works are finally appearing in digital format.

Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook by Chris Dortch Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook by Chris Dortch July 10, 2011 $16.95 457001 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
Chris Dortch estimates he’s covered close to 1,500 college basketball games since he was sports editor of his college student newspaper back in the late ’70s. “And it never gets old,” he says. “I always get pumped up to watch college hoops.” Dortch came to love basketball growing up in the basketball crazy state of Illinois, watching Missouri Valley Conference and Big Ten games every Saturday and pouring over the sports section of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I think I learned how to read a box score before I learned how to read,” he says. In college, first at George Mason and later at East Tennessee State, he came under the influence of two coaches that gave him a behind-the-scenes look at basketball from a coaching perspective. “After that I was hooked,” he says. “I knew I wanted to cover college basketball for a living.” And so he did, focusing on the Southeastern Conference at four newspapers and then for Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, the famed “bible” of college basketball which Dortch began editing in 1996. In a 30-year career, Dortch has written for numerous publications and websites, served as a college basketball correspondent for Sports Illustrated, appeared on more than 1,000 radio shows and written five books, including String Music: Inside the Rise of SEC Basketball. Dortch has provided commentary for Fox Sports South and NBA TV and also taught sports writing at East Tennessee State and Tennessee-Chattanooga, where his students call him “Professor D.”

Author of 16 Historical Romances and one contemp, my first book, China Rose, was published in 1984. Since then my historical romances have consistently appear on the USA Today list. I have been honored to be the recipient of multiple awards from Romantic Times, including 2 Lifetime Achievement awards, Storyteller of the Year, Medieval of the Year, Swashbuckler of the Year, as well as having been awarded one of a very few five star reviews handed out by Kathe Robin for The Blood of Roses. The Iron Rose was also named as one of the seven best Fiction books of the year by Publishers Weekly. I have been on a bit of a hiatus for the past few years...five, to be precise...but Smashwords has given me the incentive I needed to get the muse stirring again. It has been truly wonderful to be able to reissue my early books in digital format. Some, like China Rose, Bound by the Heart, and The Wind and the Sea, have not been in print for twenty five years. It was The Wind and the Sea, in fact, that inspired Romantic Times to create the category "Swashbuckler of the Year" and it won the very first award. I have joined an illustrious group of (to date) 63 authors who are also reviving their out of print books. Visit us at www.backlistebooks.com

Dusk Peterson writes fantasy, historical fantasy, science fiction, and contemporary fiction. Suspense plays an important role in many of the tales; the conflict in those tales is both external and internal. Peterson's stories are often placed in dark settings, such as prisons or wartime locations. The mood of the stories, however, is not one of unrelieved gloominess: friendship, heterosexual love, gay love, and faithful service are recurring themes. Field of Orbs by Gregg Mattson Field of Orbs by Gregg Mattson Jan. 14, 2011 $14.99 433849 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
Science and technology always fascinated Mr. Mattson. He studied the sciences and specialized in electronics while growing up. His understanding gave him insight to the direction of our present world and into the possibilities we have yet to experience. Gregg read volumes of Science Fiction. Through the tales of many masters, his imagination took him to places and times otherwise unattainable from our real world. After each book he read, he could imagine where the stories could go from where they stopped and dreamed of writing and publishing stories of his own. He never had an inspired story to tell, however, so other than a handful of short stories, he didn’t try. Still, he enjoyed reading even more than he did other forms of entertainment, like movies or television, because reading let him picture the author’s story his way. Supporting and raising a family put Gregg’s recreational reading and writing on the shelf for many years. His work in computers and technology demanded the balance of his time to keep abreast of technological growth. Science Fiction, except for an occasional screenplay, became a memory. In 2003, Gregg’s work bestowed free time upon him. The job required he spend weekdays away from his family, with no internet or television. Movies were boring so he returned to reading…briefly. In April 2004, he outlined an idea he developed over several years and wrote a few short stories to see what he could do. They seemed interesting so he let some family and friends read them. Their responses were encouraging and he was surprised when his test victims requested more stories. More stories…he hadn’t thought that far ahead. Gregg looked at his outline, made a number of adjustments, and built eight more short stories. They all related to the original theme but when compared to each other, the stories had disjointed plots, leaving his readers interested but somewhat confused. With their encouragement, he decided to create a novel using the short stories, or portions of them, as a base. He went underground for the next five years, ignoring queries about his writing. That effort became “Field of Orbs”, a Science Fiction Adventure novel. Gregg’s test victims, somewhat surprised by the length, read the completed book and provided some great suggestions. He published the final version of the story in January 2011. Is this as fascinating a story as other’s say? So far, they tell Gregg it is engaging and well written. Join the rest of the readers who have already enjoyed the story to find the answer to "Why are we here?" Then you can let Mr. Mattson know what you think. Thank you.

Author bio:
I've been an avid reader since my early childhood, and though I've been legally blind for around twenty years now, that love of books has continued, despite the challenges. The bug to try seriously writing books hit me in 2007, and I started with writing fan fiction stories, which was a great way to learn how to develop story lines and existing characters, as well as do research and new character creation. The feedback from readers, both positive and negative, was also a very important part of the learning process. Two million or so words, and several thousand pages later, and I was ready to start Heirs of the Magi. Fantasy epics and series are my favorite books. Whether I'm visiting the worlds created by authors like Andre Norton and Frank Herbert, or exploring the magic closer to home, like with Nora Roberts and so many other classic and contemporary writers, it's the more intimate involvement with the people and places that these books create that I love most. That's the type of story I had in mind when I began developing Heirs of the Magi, and I hope that you will love the books as much as I've loved bringing them to you!

At that time, most of my writing was marking comments on students' papers. I loved teaching, but wanted to spread my wings a bit, so I became a professional auctioneer. My husband and I owned an auction company in Florida where I involved myself in studying artifacts, collectibles, antique furniture, etc. I used many of my discoveries in my writing. I have so far published twenty books with three publishers, romance and mystery. Now I write full-time, travel in my travel trailer with my husband and our adorable silky terrier. My son, of whom I am very proud, is also a writer. I love to hear from readers and spend way too much time on Facebook.

Bruce Nappi is Director of the medical simulation training center at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. A strong interest in the problems of family life in the modern age led him to investigate the range of life styles families found themselves in during the turbulent ‘60s – ‘80s and the problems associated with them. One issue which seemed to cut across all the life styles was the difficulty handling the growth transition from childhood to adulthood, particularly in sex education. Mr. Nappi took graduate level studies in sexuality at the U. of Lowell, participated in the Sexual Attitude Reassessment seminar sponsored by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and was trained as an instructor for the About Your Sexuality program spon¬sored by the Unitarian Universalist Church. He was formerly a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology. He holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Who, In Fact, You Really Are by Cosmic Awareness Who, In Fact, You Really Are by Cosmic Awareness Nov. 02, 2008 $49.95 411414 words Sample 7%
Author bio:
Cosmic Awareness is the Force that expressed Itself through Jesus, the Buddha, Krishna, Mohammed and other great avatars who served as channels for what is commonly referred to as "God." The messages do not come from spirits, ghosts or discarnate entities, but directly from the source--Universal Consciousness. Early in 1962, a voice expressing itself as Cosmic Awareness began speaking through Ralph Duby, a university lecturer and ex-army officer who had been through the Bataan Death March in Philippines during World War II. The voice spoke whenever the subject was in a state of self-induced trance. Since that time, much valuable information has come through to us on this earthly plane from a source so high it staggers the imagination. The resulting flow of spiritual knowledge and the means of its practical application are similar to the work of Edgar Cayce, one of the most famous and documented psychics of all time. When the question was asked of Cosmic Awareness: "What is Cosmic Awareness?" we were told that Cosmic Awareness is the total mind that is not any one mind, but is the Universal Mind. It does not represent any unit other than that of complete and total Universality. We were told that we are all part of Cosmic Awareness and that we all have that God-cell within that can be contacted. No need to run off to psychics or priests or spiritual mediators. Cosmic Awareness said that you can channel Cosmic Awareness, too. Everyone can. From Cosmic Awareness, we have learned from the tens of thousands of readings It has given, that It has many names. Some call it God, Jehovah, the First Cause, the Great I AM, All That Is, etc., but Awareness has said It is not a single entity, not the anthropomorphic concept that It was often defined to be by most religions. It has defined Itself as Beauty, Purity, Concentration--and above all, Truth or "What Is." It has called Itself anti-matter, pure space, pure nothingness that is everything and the everything that is essentially nothing. It has described Itself as being that which is next to that which does not and cannot speak because it is the highest form of energy in the universe. It corresponds to the highest impersonalized concepts of God--the Clear Light. It has said that as it speaks through a modern-day interpreter now, in the past It has spoken through the great avatars: the Buddha, Mohammed, Moses, Jesus, Krishna and others who served as Its channels. Cosmic Awareness has made Itself quite clear that It is not an entity, a disembodied spirit or anything of that nature. Awareness is pure energy--pure everything--or the natural God. Cosmic Awareness is that Universal Consciousness that permeates all living things in the universe, that sees all and experiences and discerns "what is" without judging or condemning. It is the Cosmic River of Life, the Stream of Consciousness, the Eternal Essence of Being, the Divine Spirit. All consciousness springs from the same river of life--the Universal Life Force. Cosmic Awareness is not a personality, but a force that is personal in nature. The name Cosmic Awareness is unlikely to become confused with any "personality" who channels or expresses this force, avoiding any form of worship toward that person. It can be experienced by anyone who goes deep enough within oneself to touch that level of Cosmic Awareness. Cosmic Awareness is the sea of life that not only fills our cells with living energy, but fills the air we breathe and the space between galaxies and the molecules. It is the living universe. Like water filling a sponge, Cosmic Awareness fills the spaces between molecules atoms and subatomic particles, and binds them all together into one gigantic Universal Being. Like cells in a microcosmic body, we blend together as souls in a macrocosmic body whose consciousness is Cosmic Awareness. The communications have reduced what a true religion should be to the simple fundamentals of service to one another. "God" is revealed as a universal set of cosmic laws, not a personal deity subject to capriciousness, wrath or vengeance. Cosmic Awareness has taught us that there is no actual "personalized" God, apart from the many that human beings have created; there is no "personalized" Devil apart from the many that men have promulgated. The communications are deeply spiritual, but essentially non-religious and non-secular. The communications never cease to stress the supreme importance of spiritual life and the necessity for compassion in our dealings with all people. In the messages from Cosmic Awareness, there is to be found the same supreme dedication to helping to ease suffering and tragedy among humanity and a reverence for all life that is the hallmark of the great saints and the teachings of the great religious leaders.

Blessings Of A Curse - Metric Edition by Wayne Edward Clarke Blessings Of A Curse - Metric Edition by Wayne Edward Clarke Feb. 02, 2012 $2.99 405228 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
I was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on Sept 21, 1963. I'm estranged from my father, having met him one since I was a toddler. I've lived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada since 1980. I have three brothers and a sister. My sister is married, she and her husband each have two grown sons. All of us and my mother live in Calgary and are quite close. I'm married to a lovely girl from the Philippines named Jema Tuyor Clarke, and I look forward to enjoying my life with her as soon as two governments stop putting us through their interminable and expensive bureaucratic processes. I'm intensely and compulsively self-educated, I read at about 300 words per minute, and I've increased my IQ to about 160. I've always enjoyed inventing and designing machines. Most of the machines I've designed are new types of vehicles. I was a professional musician for about nine years. My musical skills include lead and harmony vocals, most styles of guitar and bass guitar, some drums and keyboards, songwriting, mixing, and production. I spent about fifteen years researching and designing a comprehensive change in society and culture that will solve all the world’s major problems, guided by the principles of bio-sociology as introduced and developed by Prof. Edward O. Wilson, and influenced by Dr. Desmond Morris’ human sociobiology. I haven't worked on it like a fanatic over the last eight years like I did for the previous fifteen, but I have continued to develop my work in this field. Over the last eight years I've spent most of my intellectual and creative energies in writing sciences fiction and fantasy novels. I’ve been a hard sci-fi fan my whole life, but everyone else I know who’s an avid reader are all fantasy fans. Over the years I’ve borrowed all their books, and learned to love that genre as well. My science fiction influences include the old masters; Heinlein, Asimov, Niven, Bradbury, Clarke, etc. Also William Gibson, Iain M. Banks, and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. My favorite relatively unknown author is Daniel Keyes Moran, and if you like sci-fi you should read his Continuing Time trilogy; Emerald Eyes, The Long Run, and The Last Dancer. They might be out of print, but I think you can still get them as ebooks online. My fantasy influences include Raymond E. Feist, David Eddings, and Jaqueline Carey. I’ve also been influenced as a fiction writer by my sociological work, and my science fiction novel People Of The Tiger (and the rest of The Rational Future Series) is set in a utopian future where my social policies have been implemented, which is a good way to get those ideas out into the public consciousness. Much of my social thinking permeates my fantasy novel Blessings Of A Curse as well, though it’s a lot harder to notice there. I’ve also included my ideas on the law and legal reform in that book, though those policies were appended to the back of the book in an excerpt, for the sake of smooth readability.
