The Happily Ever After | by Deborah A. Price April 16, 2011 | $9.99 | 404362 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: I was born the middle child of six children. I was the only daughter of struggling middle-class parents in Greensboro, NC. I graduated from high school with no clue as to what I wanted to do with life. College was out of the question due to finances. I dove into working two jobs because I wanted to be on my own. When I wasn’t working, I was reading. A true addict to books; I would read five to six books at a time. It wouldn't be until later that I would discover my hunger to write. That want quickly turned into a need. In 1994, I made my first attempt and was quickly told that I wrote like too many other authors. I placed the story in a file and put it away. I thought for good. In the past year, I found that the thirst to write was not buried. I had just placed it on hold until my children had matured enough to entertain themselves. I had again read every book I had, so I took out my first story and rewrote it. Now I have started on my thirteenth novel with hopes of many more to come. Titles include: Finding Gracie's Rainbow, Finding Annie's Dream, Finding Sammie's Fandsy, Life's Gfit, Lost and Found, The Game, Deception, Rainbow of Roses, and The Key to her Heart. |

S I, the Trilogy | by Sharon L Reddy June 07, 2011 | $5.99 | 395391 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: No biography. I'll write memoirs when I'm 103 and anyone I mention will be so happy to be alive to read them they won't sue. I write science fiction female fantasies for fast-reading smart women. What they wish fan fiction could be and know it can't. It's what I was asked to write at Mediawest in '92, when I won two Fan-Q's for my first two stories. Why me? They said "You can do it." What's that mean? It's not just storytelling talent. That's rather common. It was a real survival trait. Every good storyteller taught about the world and passed knowledge. That's what I do and like the talespinners of old, I do it in a fun way. Still not enough? My university transcript looks like I began with a map of the campus and checked off buildings I'd explored well. I admit I didn't spend a lot of time in biology and horticulture, but I did a thorough exploration of the other 'ologies, economics, engineering, philosophy, music, theater, computer science, communications and, of course, language and literature. It does show. The cultures I build and the relationships of the characters don't have any missing pieces. Some are very sexy. Some aren't. I write for an under-served market. Will others like my work? Yes, but they aren't really wishing for something that's not available. Or not this something. There really isn't anything else like my work out there. If there had been, I'd have found it. I want action-adventure that never slows down and engages me intellectually too. I want superheroes who are eloquent and brilliant. I want characters who sound like they've got an education and wisdom from 'immortals,' who aren't cases of arrested development that haven't learned anything since they were 20. I want books I have to read more than once to get everything in them out of them. I want societies that don't have any missing pieces. Traders who think about profit margin, and guard captains who think about needing to use the toilet and wish the dignitaries would, please, go into the meeting room. To get it, I had to write it. The style is for my target market too. It takes a couple chapters to get used to it, but once the women I write for do, they will read it faster. I'm a torchbearer, a member of the avant-garde, as we escape the economic confinement of physical mass distribution. You still hear people say, "If it was any good, it would be REALLY published." No, only books which the corporation decides will appeal to a vast audience get published and the people who make that decision haven't read them. A decision of that financial magnitude requires spreadsheets. They can't invest stockholder money in anything that isn't blockbuster-connected and probable sell-through, nothing truly new or different. It's our decision to create that which is the guide to all who follow. Ready for some real brain candy? Download a sample and see if it satisfies that wish for something you just couldn't define. I am a Talespinner. I shall you a tale of heroes, of the wide velvet night! A Talespinner's Web, an historical site: http://www.targetyonder.com Spinner, 6/2011 |

Brazil | by Errol Lincoln Uys Feb. 27, 2012 | $9.99 | 387489 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Errol Lincoln Uys (pronounced ‘Ace’) is the author of the epic historical novel,'Brazil.' Of this work, distinguished Brazilian critic Wilson Martins wrote: “Uys accomplished what no Brazilian author from José de Alencar to João Ubaldo Ribeiro and Jorge Amado was able to do. He is the first to write our national epic in its entirety. He is the first outsider to see us with total honesty and sympathy. Descriptions like those of the war with Paraguay are unsurpassed in our literature and evoke the great passages of 'War and Peace.'†'Brazil' won the highest critical acclaim in the United Kingdom, Germany and France, where it was a bestseller ('La Forteresse Verte.') Said 'Le Figaro:' “No one before Uys knew how to bring to life Brazil and her history. Uys’s characters are brilliant and colorful, combining elements of the best swashbuckler with those worthy of deepest reflection. Most stunning is that it took a South African now a naturalized American, to evoke so perfectly the grand but interrupted dream that is Brazil.†'L’Express' concurred: “A masterpiece! 'Brazil' has the feel of an enchanted virgin forest, a totally new and original world for the reader-explorer to discover.†'Publisher’s Weekly' described 'Brazil' as “Pulsing with vigor, this is a vast novel to tell the story of a vast country. The principal characters, both real and imaginary, are hard to forget . . . Uys re-creates history almost entirely ‘at ground level,’ even more densely than Michener.†Uys has also written the non-fiction book, 'Riding the Rails: Teenagers on the Move During the Great Depression.' The 'Boston Globe' praised this work as “A riveting document of hope and hardship. The reader can all but hear the cadence of the trains on the tracks and the lonesome wail at every whistle-stop.†'Riding the Rails' was chosen as one of the “10 Best Books of 1999†by Amazon’s history editor. Uys was ten when he wrote 'Revenge,' a novella penned on the back of worthless stock certificates tossed out by his mother. After high school, he worked as a law clerk for two years before becoming a reporter on the Johannesburg 'Star.' His next job was as editor of the Cape Town edition of 'Post,' then South Africa's biggest weekly among its African and mixed-race population. Moving to London, he was chief reporter for the 'South East London Mercury,' before joining 'Reader's Digest' in England. The magazine sent him back to Africa, where he founded the first South African editorial office, becoming editor-in-chief in 1972. Five years later, he moved to the United States with his family, joining the 'Digest's' world headquarters as a senior international editor. In 1977, the Digest assigned him to work with James A. Michener on his South African novel, 'The Covenant', a controversial collaboration covered in 'Working with James Michener,' doucmented on Uys's website. He has been a resident of Massachusetts since 1981 and currently lives in Dorchester, Boston. A detailed biography is available at the website: http://www.erroluys.com |

Goodbye Beautiful Wing | by Terrence O'Neill Nov. 30, 2011 | $4.99 | 382343 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio:   Terrence O'Neill soloed in a Porterfield, at age 16, four months after two atomic bombs ended WW II. At age 23, he transferred from Engineering to get a BA in Journalism, Notre Dame, January 1953, Korean War time, then enlisted in the Navy Air Corps. He flew P2Vs in Patrol Squadron FOUR in the Pacific until 1957, rated Instrument and Patrol Plane Commander. After service he worked many day-job years as a reporter, tech writer, free-lance writer, and PR manager for Falstaff Brewing Corp. In 1960, after work hours, he bought and restored the last Waco aircraft, the tail-prop AristoCraft. In 1967 he incorporated O’Neill Airplane Company to design, build, and test fly, to manufacture his Model W, a six-place lightplane, earning FAA Provisional Type Certificate A19CE in 1969, just as the General Aviation market crashed, and capital ran out. Next, while Admin Director for a civil engineering company, he designed, built and flight tested 'Jake', a dedicated bush plane, later modified with swing-tail into ‘Magnum Pickup’ to carry one-ton loads and snowmobiles. He also improved and flew a Mitchell flying wing. In between times he and his wife Cynthia, a retired teacher with two Masters degrees, used their tandem-wing Dragonfly to visit their six scattered college grad children.    O'Neill's primary interest is sport aircraft design. He has more than 20 years as a Tech Counselor and Flight Advisor for Experimental Aircraft Association.    He started developing a blended-wing-body design in 1985, which led him to study the Northrop B-35 and B-49 Flying Wings and be puzzled by the Wing’s publicized 'problems' which did not make aerodynamic sense. His research spun-off inventing, with math assist of son Timothy, a device for providing roll-yaw stability for swept wing aircraft, awarded US Patent 5,078,338. The research also motivated him to investigate why the Air Force bought inferior B-36 Peacemaker ‘Stick’ instead of stealthy (1948!) B-35 Flying Wings, which is the story of Goodbye Beautiful Wing.    O'Neill has about 2000 hours as a Commercial Pilot license with single- and multi-engine, instrument, instructor ratings. Yesterday 121611, I published my eBook Goodbye Beautiful Wing (Amazon) and ordered print books. Questions or comments are welcome. |
