Fashion Class by Karin Bishop Fashion Class by Karin Bishop March 21, 2012 $4.99 249203 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
I write for the joy of meeting new people--my characters--and learning what happens to them. I'm very interested in the discovery of a person's true nature and sexual identity, and exploring different genres and structure. I have been writing since ...ever. I won my first national writing award in sixth grade (a small, dusty trophy in a hutch at my mother's). Like many authors, I edited and contributed to my high school and college creative writing magazines, then life got in the way and didn't write for years. Flash forward and I sold some magazine articles in fields I was interested in (music and travel) and all over again, I fell in love with watching words appear on the screen. More to the point, I fell in love with characters appearing on my screen, moving and breathing and living on their own. I fell in love with setting things up, and watching what happens. I hope you will enjoy sharing their journey! Karin

Ravenwild by Peter Plasse Ravenwild by Peter Plasse March 12, 2011 $3.99 233056 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
I was born in northern Maine, the grandson of an American-born fur-trapper of French-Canadian descent. I grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts and have been an avid reader of Science Fiction/Fantasy since my college days. Having read Asimov, Bradbury, Brooks, (Is The "Sword of Shannara" series a great story or what?) Heinlein, Tolkien, Jordan, Herbert, (awesome command of words) Zelazny, and many, many others, the one author that stands alone as my all-time favorite is Terry Goodkind. And I must acknowledge, before I write another word, his phrase "Focus on the solution, not on the problem." I am not sure if it was he that originally coined the phrase. Nevertheless, I have quoted him a billion times to Interns and Residents on rounds. (As well as in Ravenwild where I actually name him). It is one of the most important principles in the practice of Emergency Medicine, (not to mention life in general) where we oftentimes make important decisons, some of which involve significant risk to the patient, on interventions based upon very little information. These words are so simple, yet I believe them to be some of the wisest words ever written. Motivation for writing Ravenwild: I have always been told I am a good story-teller, and I have always enjoyed reading. So one day, inspired by nothing more than the challenge of writing a good story that my kids might someday enjoy reading, I sat down and cranked out Chapter 1 (which is now chapter 2, but that is a tale for another time). I then immediately forgot about it. A year or so later, I was looking for some file on my hard drive, and stumbled across it. I read it, and actually thought it was pretty good, so I just kept writing. 8 or so years later I ended up with a book. Early in my life I was a hunter, fisherman, trapper, and avid scuba enthusiast. I have come to realize that we have a much greater responsibility to the planet than I ever thought much about when I was younger, so I no longer hunt. I still fish, and scuba, but if I do take anything home with me, it is for one meal only. Some old habits just plain die hard...

The Unsettled by Michael Schwaba The Unsettled by Michael Schwaba Jan. 04, 2011 $4.95 228558 words Sample 45%
Author bio:
I was born in Chicago on a sunny day in September, one month premature according to my mother. I emerged in the dark wee hours of the morning and four days later I was welcomed into an Irish/Polish Catholic family. I must have slept through it; I don’t remember much of it. I was the fourth child, and in time there would be four more, years before I left home and hometown to go out in the world on my own. My two earliest memories are: 1) lying on the floor, looking at an enormous pair of feet in front of me, and 2) Piano playing. My parents played; my mother’s parents played; my aunts and uncles played. I cannot recall many days when someone wasn’t playing the piano in our house. So, having a love of piano music, I eventually sat down one day and learned to play…the guitar. I loved reading at an early age. It stimulated my imagination, and this inspired me to write. Writing gives me purpose in life. It’s like looking in a mirror. “Oh! There you are! Thought I’d lost you…” I love writing as much as I love reading. I love the excitement of "watching" the characters and feeling the flow of words when I am in the "zone." I love the tired ecstasy of reading something finished, and knowing that it is better written than my last piece. I have even (sometimes) come to love writing myself into a corner, when I don't know where else to go, which I do much more frequently than I used to, only now it is not as crippling as it used to be, though it is still as exasperating. I have proved to myself over time that some of my best writing is to be found in those corners if I will simply do one thing when I don't feel like writing. And that is write. I still love making things up. MS

About three years ago I began working on a few stories that I could customize for my children, their friends and a couple of relatives. I had it in mind that I could occasionally produce these customized paperbacks as a small, experimental business. It never fully took shape, but my children and the friends and parents who read the novels enjoyed them. They encouraged me. The books here are the original self published editions so I've priced them for a quick cheap read. Please feel free to leave your honest review. I would really like to know what you thought of the books. They're just meant to be enjoyed - they're not literature. So a great big thank you to all you readers out there who took the time to download them. And please remember... Your reviews will help me decide whether or not to turn these novels into series. Check out my website if you want info on the customized paperback versions. (Yes customizing these novels is still an option. It's just not a full throttle gig. Examples are shown on the website and blog).

Romancing The Sword First Omnibus by Samuel Z Jones Romancing The Sword First Omnibus by Samuel Z Jones Nov. 14, 2011 $5.99 198993 words Sample 5%
Author bio:
I'm a writer. I write primarily Fantasy, and I write a lot of it. There's an argument among Fantasy writers, and readers too, as to whether the rule "Write what you know" applies. I'm firmly of the "Write what you know" school; in my humble opinion, there is a much to be "known" about Fantasy as there is any other genre. My stories feature a lot of sword-fighting, camping and horse-riding, all of which I do indeed know enough about to write on. ABOUT MY BOOKS: Akurite Empire is a trilogy. While each book is a complete story in its own right, reading all three in sequence will be much more fun than reading one or two in random order. Romancing The Sword is a quintet (quintology?) set five years prior to the events of Akurite Empire and covering much of the back story. It is a massive epic and intended to be read as such; the story-arcs overlap from one book to another. Then there are the Sorcha stories... These are Fantasy Erotica, and as such feature much higher sexual content than my other books. They also cross over the plots of other books, presenting a different perspective on events as detailed in the main series. Anonymous & Sifu are comedies, and though they feature the character of Sifu Dansac, both can be enjoyed individually. Sifu's Kung Fu Secrets, despite being written in the style of a demented Chinaman, contains real martial arts. Don't try this stuff, you'll hurt people. It's written in the style of a mad Chinaman so that no one will take it seriously. The Flame of Freedom was a paid commission in collaboration with the scriptwriter Gabriel Murray. It is a historical novel distinct from the rest of my work. I've been writing for about ten years; I have a large back-catalogue that will be presented here as I complete final editing of each book. Although every effort is made to produce books clean of typos, some minor errors creep in. Anyone noticing such is invited to let me know so that it can be corrected. Any other feedback is also very welcome; readers can contact me via Facebook if they so desire. I'm also offering a generous 25% on the affiliate program for all my books. Got a good publicity base on-line, but only a small catalogue of books to offer? Loot mine, I have over a dozen titles and more coming out on a weekly basis.

Since 1983 I always wanted to write a book, tried a couple of times to put something down on paper but nothing seemed to flow. In the early nineties I started writing poetry which was more successful and two were published in collections. The desire to write something bigger remaiined and in 2007 my first novel The Shiorel Legacy took shape. I would like to say it was easy to do and initially the words flowed freely but as the plots thickened writing became harder but in late 2008 I completed it. During the writing of my sequel I occasionally went back and edited or modified the first book trying to keep everything in order and avoid conflicts. Hopefully people who read my work will forgive my lack of experience and see the story for what it is. One friend who read some of my work said I needed to use a thesaurus, maybe I did but I wanted a book that people would read without scratching their heads too much wondering what some words mean. My next upload will be a murder mystery and is in the final stages of completion. Please, if you read any of my work your feedback will be very appreciated as it will help me decide where my faults lie and encourage me to improve my writing,

After those 25 years, my next career was in public education, which was something I never intended to do. Getting "drafted" into teaching and time as an Academic Coordinator was very interesting and I do so love the students and teachers, administrators, and staff members I met. I'm very proud of our students. After six years, I left teaching and moved near my son and his family. I became a Master Gardener and Master Composter, joined local organizations, and have been able to enjoy more time with my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. are grown and I have beautiful grandchildren I am thrilled that my professional focus now is limited to writing. I will be publishing both fiction and non-fiction works and begin that in 2012 with the availability of Cowboy Jesse and the College Girl.
