IDK - Into the Darkness : A Screenplay | by Raymond Hancock Dec. 27, 2009 | You set the price! | 21682 words | Sample 50% |
| Author bio: Raymond Hancock, a writer of fiction and poetry, was born in 1972, in Yakima Washington. He has written many poems, a screenplay, and aspires to many novels, Necroman being his first. Besides dozens of poems, Raymond’s first work was a screenplay called, Into The Darkness, written in 1995. Quickly he turned his efforts from the film industry, feeling that he was not ready for the arena that movies offered. Novels, as Raymond saw it, have more freedom and substance. He also believes they are a better place for an author to become established. In recent years Raymond was married and now has a beautiful family. He believes family and faith is the center of his life. Raymond has worked hard to cultivate his skills as a writer, starting at the young age of ten years old. Raymond looks at his writing as largely unconventional. He desires to create stories that take a different angle on traditional plots. Raymond wants his work to glorify God. He wants the reader’s imagination to be cranked all the way up, and at the same time expose them to biblical principles. |

Revived: First Steps | by G Johanson May 03, 2012 | Free! | 5621 words | Sample 30% |
| Author bio: I write fiction in the paranormal genre, with all of my stories linked in some way. Immortal witches, spiritualist mediums and street magicians populate my books, along with many other supernatural characters and creatures and even some ‘normal’ people too. Accursed was my first major project that made me think seriously about writing. Originally designed as a prequel to another book I had written to showcase a supporting character, Accursed, developed a life of its own and expanded beyond the novella I had planned to become a trilogy. World War II has always fascinated me dating back to my days studying history at GCSE and A-level and the idea was to place my central character during this tumultuous time and then make his life get even more complicated. By the end of the book the inexperienced GI and medium has had to grow up fast during very difficult circumstances. As a writer I like to form a basic structure for the plot and adapt the details as I write, though I often find that the characters ultimately determine the direction of the book, taking it away from my original ideas as their personalities take shape. At times I could very much relate to the lead character upon his journey 'down the rabbit hole' into a new and bizarre world of witchery and mysticism as some of the twists and turns surprised me too. The original ending for Accursed would not have lent itself to a sequel so I'm pleased I adapted. Lastly, how to categorise my work? I like to consider my material wholly unique, which I don't think anyone would disagree with. The terms paranormal saga or paranormal romance fit as genres, though I think the term I'm most comfortable with would be paranormal pulp. As a connoisseur of the great pulp books of the past I embrace the term because with pulp you know you're going to get a good story told simply and effectively and that's what I hope I've delivered. |
