~Introduction~
Okay, you look down at your ragtag (hereinafter referred to as wompus) nails and you know in your heart of hearts, “ain’t nobody going to look at those hands and think they look nice.” Am I right? Of course I am. That’s why you bought this booklet and that’s what we’re going to fix!
So anyway. Back to your nails. They sail up into the air, they ripple from side to side, they fall apart quicker than a house built of playing cards. They have ocean waves of their own! Oh, how you hate those nails. But what’s a girl to do? They are your birthright and they are FREAKY! Keep reading, you poor damsel in distress. The solution awaits you on the following pages (along with some nasty photos of freaky nails) as you take on the journey to FABULOUSNESS!!!!
Let me say this right up front. I do my nails every weekend because I do not like seeing that line of new growth at the cuticle area with NO polish on it. Looks downright naked to me. So my directions are for weekly at-home manicures. I usually devote Sunday mornings for a personal “spa” day that includes my manicure and a few other self-enhancements. It may look very involved, but once you get the majority of the training over with and you start the upkeep, it takes about 30 to 45 minutes to do the actual manicure. I think that’s well worth it. I get a week of showing off my hands and playing with colors and come next spa day, I get a whole new week of color! You can go longer in-between if you like. Some people can even go 3 weeks. But my thin and fast-growing nails just do not look their best when I go that long – although the polish certainly lasts that long!
Chapter 1 – start with wompus fingernails – yours!
So you can totally identify with the intro. Now what?
Take a real assessment of what you are up against. Maybe it’s not a pretty sight, but at least one nail (usually) does what it’s supposed to do and you know how to shape your nails to make them look their best, even if they refuse to grow any longer because parts of them somehow disappear when you close the dresser drawer, or open your car door, or do something as simple as pick up a coin. And guess what? That one nail, that’s your MODEL nail. OMG! If that’s the best you’ve got, you might be getting a little scared about now! No worries. Your goal is to train and maintain the rest of your nails to look like that one, minus the ridges, minus the splitting, minus the waves and eventually with enough length to make you want to talk with your hands ALL THE TIME. Bet you didn’t know this was a class in Italian communication, did you?
This is not a quick fix. You probably already know how to find that at your local nail tech’s salon. If you want long term results and you want to be able to do it yourself because you just don’t like paying out at the salon over and over and over and over, or you just don’t have the time, or you just have a need to be in control, then this booklet is for you. Whatever the reason, you’ve come here and you made the right choice.
Please read thoroughly before starting!
Chapter 2 – Tools for the Job
Yes, you will have to invest. I have included approximate prices at the time of writing. Photos are included so you will know the types of products I am talking about. Prices are based on buying from eBay because I live in the boonies, however, those prices do not include the shipping charges. You can usually find what you’re looking for with free shipping. If you do pay shipping, you’ll be saving on taxes, time and gas to get to the right store, so it almost equals out. You may live near a Sally Beauty Supply store, but then the prices will be much higher too. Do whatever your budget tells you to do.
