Intro

Why did I write this book?

As a poet/ rapper I have been performing at open mic events, corner ciphers, and even appeared as the featured artist at a few shows since 2004. I have always been an artist who does it for the love of art. My music was usually given away for free because it was for the people. My art is not for some record exec to alter, mass produce, sell, and reap the benefits of. The fans of my music have loved the giveaways but often ask this question. How can I support you and your art for sustainability? For years I would respond that enjoying my art was the best way. While the sentiment remains true, many fans felt that the need to donate funds to my studio time etc. To me, those who gave financial support were paying for what everyone got free and I had to find a way to change that. For these reasons, I've decided to compile this poetry book as a relatively inexpensive way to support my art with a tangible reimbursement. This book is simply a way to say thank you for all the love you have shown and continue to show. Love & Light to you all!

Liner Notes: “Life is a gamble, oh oh baby, where you win or lose”- Marvin Gaye. Nothing like a little Marvin Gaye to set the tone of the mixtape. Simple, yet soulful. Shout out to Kyle (Freequensee) for announcing the project.

RED

Red is the color of blood
The color of love
Red is the color of the hair on my bud
Red is the color of joy
Red is passion
Red is the color of the bloods when they're flaggin
Red is the color of hearts
The color of roses
Red is the sea that's divided by Moses
Red is the color of danger
Red is the laser
Infrared at the top of my banger
Red is the color of anger
The color of fire
Red is your face when we know you're a liar
Red is the color of lipstick
The dress on my mistress
Who came from the red light district
Red is the color of her bones cuz she lightskin
Red is the nose of this pitbull I'm fighting
Red means stop
The opposite of green lights
Red be my eyes while I'm smokin on my weed pipe

Liner Notes: RED came to me in a dream. A spirit guide led me on a journey to connect the red dots so to speak. RED went from a dream to reality and became the first part of the color theme of the mixtape.

50 Shots (Burn Babylon)

Man it's sickening
They got me workin in a system which
Instills in it's citizens
Contempt for my existence
Then limits them
Puts them into boxes and religions and
Is steady pimpin em
Cuz it's all about the Benjamins
And we lettin them
As we sit and watch this television
And u never listen
So big brother got your head in prison
So you can't envision
That they got your brain in shackles
Yellow journalism traps you
Then they clap you
Tackle you and throw you in a cage
If u misbehave
Man this shit is strange
Same Bible maybe different page
They manipulate
All the motherfuckin shit u say
Got these couch potatoes out here
Screamin that they renegades
People been afraid for too long
Now it's time to fight
Know I'm riding right
For my freedom I may die tonite
I got it tight
It's time for my youngins to show them
Crooked politicians
Ain't no country for old men

Liner Notes: My favorite artist to collaborate with, Universoul asked me to do a chorus and a verse on a song he wrote. I liked the result so much I had to have it on my mixtape and there was no better place to put it but the beginning of the RED section.

My Rose

I said the love that I got for u
Grows like a rose but
Then u start runnin
Like snot from a nose
But I know
If I want you then you’re gonna need some time
I ain't tryna wrap u up
I just gotta speak my mind
And I do it all the time
I'll never give u up baby
Call me Barry White
Baby that's a bet like I'm pitchin in a dolla
What do u expect?
Every Simba needs a Nala
Money nor the power could equate to how I'm feelin u
Jah musta laced u with somethin
Because I fiend for you
Girl I'm thinkin me and you
Because when I be seein you
You be makin me cheese
It pleases me to be with you
So I wanna be with you
But you be leavin me confused
The love of Rastafari
Is what my love is equal to
Girl I love speak with you
Like Indians I chief with you
Number one my heart
Nobody else competes with you
