Introduction

"Before you start on any weight loss management diet check with you doctor." How many times have you heard that? And how many times has your doctor told you to lose weight quickly or your health would be in serious trouble? We all know obesity is the cause of many diseases today, and yet thousands of us suffer from obesity and keep seeking that one brand new weight loss miracle diet that will finally help us to take the pounds off quickly, easily and safely.

I would like to tell you a little about myself and my constant struggle with weight loss. I have suffered with obesity all my life. I was fat as a baby and my mother always said that people would stop her on the street and say "what a cute chubby little baby girl she is." Now that is ok when you are a baby, as people seem to love chubby babies, but when this continues on into the teen years and up to your adult years, it is no longer "cute" or fun.

I managed to keep the weight off by actually starving myself most of the time as I was growing into adulthood, but the pounds would always creep right back on, and especially after I started having children. I remember in my 30s I took weight off by eating only half of the food on my plate. We loved MacDonald's so I would get their smallest hamburger and take the top piece of bun off and eat the rest. I am talking about their smallest hamburger they offer which, believe me, is a small amount of food, however, this diet worked, and I would soon be slim again. There was only one draw back on losing weight on this weight loss diet; "I was always hungry!"

The battle against obesity that I was fighting was gradually turning in favor of obesity quickly so after so many years of losing the weight and gaining it back, and becoming more and more depressed after each weight gain, I knew something had to be done if I wanted to regain my youthfulness and vigor. I was so tired and depressed all the time because I wasn't getting the right nutrients with a good reducing menu and diet plan in my daily eating regime.

Now this is the part that is the most interesting about how and when I really lost my weight. It wasn't because of any "crash" diet or any severe weight loss eating plan. I bought a book on nutrition, and I soon became obsessed with the good delicious foods I was supposed to be putting my tummy daily. As I studied this book with relish, it soon became very apparent to me why I had lost my zest for life and still had so many extra pounds of fat on my body. I simply was giving up my health and happiness to be slim by omitting the wonderful bountiful array of foods that God has given us to enjoy daily. I thought if I just didn't eat, the weight loss would come about quickly and I would be beautiful and slim once more. This plan of not eating was my downfall and kept me constantly nervous, tired and hungry and still fat! This book on nutrition was one of the best investments I ever bought in my life!
