Alphabet Song


Dear Readers,

I was going to tell you one of

my favourite stories, but then I realized

it has a lot of letters in it.

So I have to tell you the truth about the

Alphabet Song F first.


You see, my name is spelled:

i, a, n, h, u, t, t, o, n, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s,

t, u, v, w, x, y…

Y

that’s the Alphabet isn’t it?


My name is in the alphabet, is yours?

I know mine is because it’s written

on my bedroom door in my alphabet house.

And I have beautiful C curtains over my cozy B bed

and I have pictures on my walls that I did myself

of my D dog X.


I call him X because his front legs are crossed.

He doesn’t run very well, but I drag him really fast!


My walls are made of W’s standing on each other

and my ceiling is made of P’s

because I like the colour green.


And my chimney is so tall because it’s made of T’s

standing on their toes

and my windows are as clear as air

because I make them out of O’s.


And when I go out my G gate

I take some letters with me

I stuff some in my pockets

and put some in my mouth

so I’m ready to say “Hello” or “Good Morning”.


And everyone I meet begins with letters too.

" Y", they say, "Isn’t it a fine day."


"Y, yes." I say I usually say…

but not today because remember last night,

the howling S shouting wind last night…

it blew my name away.


So today, I went immediately to i but it wasn’t one

I mean it was a 1 not an i

they look a lot alike I think don’t you?

"Certainly not!"

A loud voice from over my shoulder said:

"Certainly not!

I’m number 1 everything begins with me,

everything that counts!

Now what would you like to count?"

"Nothing." I said. "I’m looking for my name."


"Well how many numbers do you have in your name: 3, 4?"

"Zero." I said. "It only has letters, not numbers."

"No, no, no, letters can’t count, only numbers count!

Are you certain you have no numbers in your name?"

"Yes." I said sadly.


"Well, if it’s only letters you want,

you better go see my cousin F first

because about letters she knows 100 percent."

"Thank you." I said and I went off to see his cousin F first.


She was bathing when I first arrived.

I could hear a bar of soap go slippery plop

and there was water too, running under her door.

And she was singing the alphabet in beautiful reds and blues

but each time she sang it, she began with F

and ended with E.

I think this is how the chorus went:


"Actually the alphabet begins with F first

because that’s where F first belongs

and then of course, it ends with E

at the very End of this song:

F, G, H, I, J, K, L,

M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U,

V, W, X, Y and Z

A, B, C, D and E.

Now I've sung my F, G, H's."
