I recently mentioned to a work colleague that I had been working on this book. Almost immediately he asked me, “…what qualifies you to write this book”?
My general response to this question is that I feel anyone who has lived 30 years has something to talk about (including my work colleague who asked the question).
The actual answer is that the wealth of experience I have had working with people qualifies me to write this book. Over ten years teaching teenagers and adults in a variety of settings, personal business ventures involving team building leadership and management, plus three years pastoral care over a church congregation, all of which have given me some wonderful insight into human attitude and behaviour.
I was having ‘one of those’ philosophical conversations with a close relative during which she remarked “there is a reason why you are such a deep thinker”. I like to consider that this book is just the beginning of that reason being revealed.
The reason for me writing this book is that in the years that I have been observing people (including myself) I have made some observations that I feel will be helpful for many people.
This book is not intended to be an exhaustive exposition on each chapter topic, however this book is intended to provide food for thought and highlight some golden nuggets of information for you the reader.
I have heard the acronym KISS used many times in many circles. The cliché that is Keep It Short and Simple exists as a reminder that often people over complicate things. This book seeks to point out some truths that may be deemed as obvious but are possibly also overlooked by many.
I really do hope you enjoy and find this book helpful. See you on the other side.
It is no secret that it has long been claimed by all sorts of people from many walks of life that we all as human beings are victims or benefactors of influence.
This is often said of children hence parental control over what they watch, listen to and who they keep as friends. As adults we consciously make similar decisions about who we want to keep as friends and places we are willing to go.
