Introduction

What is contained in this book is based on a process that was developed through a combination of knowledge, experience, research, and practical use. It is therefore a product of the methods describe within its pages.

What is written here was created with the following core principle in mind. That is, if you possess or produce something of use whether tangible or intangible, and it may benefit others it is therefore of value, (if made available). Keep this in mind as you read.

Being the original work of the author it is therefore my offering, to you the reader, in a spirit of absolute Faith that you will benefit in some way.

You will be given opportunities in the sections that follow in which directions will be given that will require action on your part. You may choose to read through to the end and then come back and follow the exercises.

It is more likely that you will benefit from this book if you choose to participate and follow the instructions when they arise. This will consist mostly of putting pen to paper and writing down thoughts and observations.

Equally important is for you to ask the question of yourself “Who am I…to Me?

If money is your hope for independence you will never have it. The only real security that a man will have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability.”

Section 1 State of mind

The great men of centuries past and even of the one we live in now have generously offered a gift for those who care to accept it. Do we truly honor these men for the right reasons? Dare we admit we might envy them, or are jealous of their accomplishments? There is no room for either if your desire is to see and accept what they have offered.

How did they become great men? They certainly we not born famous, in fact many weren’t famous until late in their lives. To understand what is meant by accepting the gifts these honorable men have left, I have gone through the simple process of getting to know one of them.

I chose someone who I believe fits the description, we each have our own ideas as to what makes an honorable person, let alone famous or great. Could we agree that Abraham Lincoln fits the criteria?

It should be common knowledge as to what Abraham Lincoln did, he became President. But who was he and did he really leave something for me or you? Yes! But he may have left something entirely different for each of us. It all depends on how hard you look, and that you understand how to look. Like many successful people, Abraham Lincoln is an example of achievement that didn’t come until late in life.

To appreciate the value of what is being stated here it is important to understand that Abraham Lincoln had very little formal education. He instead read books to become educated, he held many jobs throughout his life, and while it could be said that he failed at most of the jobs he held, we should give credence to the fact that much of his education was a result of that experience. It was who he was and the use of the knowledge he possessed that gained him enough recognition to become President of the United States.

With that said is it obvious to you that he left tools for those who have taken the time to find out who he was as a person. By reading his biography for instance and getting to know him through research I would suggest that above all he left behind encouragement for those who have yet to find their purpose in life. The knowledge he gained because he had the desire to do so is what gave him his purpose. The use of that knowledge is what brought him success.

Considering how difficult it was for young Abe to get a book or gain access to knowledge relevant to his interest’s, would it then be fair and accurate to suggest he put his knowledge to good use?
