Hypnosis is a state of consciousness one enters and leaves naturally all the time during your day-to-day experiences. It feels very much like day dreaming i.e., the state between sleeping and waking. Hypnosis is a guided fantasy. In this state of relaxation you are more open to suggestions. In this state (also called alpha) your brain wave vibration rate slows down, giving you access to your Subconscious Mind. While your Conscious Mind is still completely aware of what is going on the whole time, in this relaxed state of mind, your subconscious mind has the ability to accept information given to it by the hypnotist.
Hypnosis is
a valuable tool for self-empowerment and
continuous personal growth.
Hypnosis is
a state of heightened suggestibility. We are all influenced by
suggestions. Hypnosis uses this natural human process to change
negative patterns into positive patterns of behavior. There is
nothing mysterious about hypnosis.
There are five components necessary to induce hypnosis:
Motivation - You must want to be Hypnotized.
Relaxation - Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation.
Concentration - You will use your ability to concentrate.
Imagination - You will use your vivid imagination.
Suggestion - You will hear and respond to suggestions.
Its application is based solely on the relationship between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
The subconscious
mind, having no power to reason, accepts and acts upon any fact or
suggestion given to it by the conscious mind.
As long as there
have been human beings, there has been hypnosis.
We use this commonly occurring, and natural
state of mind, unknowingly, all the time. It is just natural
for us. For example, if you have ever watched a television program or
a movie and became really absorbed into the program, you were
probably in a trance.
Advertisers understand this. They use
television programs to induce a hypnotic
trance and then provide you hypnotic
suggestions, called commercials! Everyone has already
experienced hypnosis, by accident or intentionally.
Another
common example of this naturally occurring state of mind is when you
are driving down the road, with your mind focused on some other task
(a day dream perhaps), and next thing you know, you have passed your
next turn.
So now you know
you can be hypnotized.
You have done it literally thousands of
times. You did it yourself when you were daydreaming and missed that
turn, you have been hypnotized when you enjoyed a television program,
and you have followed hypnotic and
posthypnotic suggestions when you preferred some brand
name that you saw repeatedly on television.

The following is an anatomy and the 5 Steps to take for an effective hypnosis session. A typical hypnosis session runs anywhere from 60 - 90 minutes. Use the following steps to achieve maximum results.
The Pre-talk is actually one of the most important parts of the hypnosis session because this is where you are going to get an opportunity to establish Rapport with your client. If you have no rapport, you have no hypnosis, plain and simple.
Simply put, being in rapport with someone is like being in sync with them. There is a feeling of mutual trust and being on the same wavelength. You can easily get into rapport with a person by matching certain qualities about the person, such as their body postures and movement. This is called mirroring. You are also picking up on a variety of language preferences and speaking back to them in their desired style. It would be very important for you to learn much more about rapport. But, in the meantime, you can easily get into rapport just by being extremely interested in the conversation and making it about them.
Since you really cannot hypnotize anyone against their will, you need to make your client as comfortable with the experience as possible.
If your client has never been in hypnosis before, they may be coming to you feeling a little bit skeptical and they may have some pre-conceived ideas about hypnosis.
So the first thing you need to do is find out what those are by asking them some questions and clearing up any of the myths:
What is your experience of hypnosis? In other words, have you ever been in hypnosis? Have you seen anyone in hypnosis? Do you know anyone who’s been hypnotized? Tell me you’re your understanding of it is first so I can speak to your understanding of it specifically. This is going to give you a foundation to structure the pre-talk to their initial understanding and tweak any myths or misunderstandings that you discover about their expectations.
Why have you chosen Hypnosis? What else have you tried?
How badly do you want this change? What is your motivation for it? What are the benefits?
So, you will address the answers to the above questions, while establishing rapport.
And then you will discuss the following:
You’ll also dispel any myths
You’ll discuss a little bit about the relationship between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
And then you’ll discuss a little bit about what they will experience in hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a powerful therapeutic tool for accessing the subconscious mind and achieving personal goals or affecting desired changes. It may be used alone or in conjunction with other therapeutic techniques.
Despite its awesome power, there are few procedures less understood, or more plagued by misconceptions. Hypnosis has existed since prehistoric times, and western medicine has been trying to understand it since the 1700's. But it has only been within the last two decades that we have truly begun to understand what hypnosis is, and what it can do for us.
Unfortunately, many of the misconceptions that have developed over the centuries still exist in people's minds. If you ask the average person on the street what he or she thinks hypnosis is, they may respond with any number of answers, including: sleep, unconsciousness, mind control, or even magic. All of these ideas are wrong, but unfortunately continue to persist, perpetuated by novels and films. (Many vampire & spy movies, for instance, portray hypnosis as a way for the villain to gain control over his victims.) These misconceptions prevent many people, who could benefit from hypnotherapy, from ever trying it. Those who do try hypnotherapy often spend their first session unlearning their misconceptions.
Hypnosis is not sleep, unconsciousness, mind control, or even magic. In fact it is a heightened state of awareness. In most cases the subject is fully aware and able to respond to requests, either verbally or by a signal. Ask a hypnotized person to make a specific, reasonable movement they will comply.
There is no
surrender of control, no magic. No one can be hypnotized against his
or her will; and no hypnotized person can be forced to do anything
against his or her will.
Hypnosis is now considered to be "a
state of selective thinking," where the subject (who is in
control) chooses to experience only what is relevant to the task at
hand, blocking out everything else. It may also be described as
guided concentration. The guidance may be provided by a qualified
Hypnotherapist, or in the case of self-hypnosis, by the individual.
