Lofty the cloud had the simplest of beginnings high above the earth…slowly tossing and turning, shaping his self into whatever he desired as he clung to the safety of his mother…the most beautiful cloud in the sky.

“Mother,” Lofty spoke softly. “See how good I am at changing shapes? I’m almost as good as Pop is, now I’m ready to go off and explore the earth and touch the rainbows by myself if you’ll let me.

May I, Mom?” Lofty then pleaded. “May I go off to learn more about the world below? Please?”

Mother Cloud moved quickly, wrapping herself tightly around her precious little cloud. Suddenly, drops of rain fell from her eyes…or, maybe… these were her tears? It was then that Lofty’s father, Father Cloud drifted closer. Quickly he surrounded both mother and child.
