Preface:

The Gate

The Guardians of the Gate of the Demon World once stood twain per side. All stood ten feet tall, Angel and Demon offsetting each other to preserve Equilibrium. Primitive armors of Precambrian origin protecting them, the great Seraph armed with halberd stood left of the Ogre armed with bludgeon, both seemingly statues fresh carved from stone. The two protectors this side of the Gate were the friendlier pair, comfortable to the inhabitants of this realm. It was a tragedy when their dark counterparts on the other side were found lying still in a pool of blood. Thus, the escape began, and Injury found its way into the minds of Earth.

Seleucia the Great

Are all heroes not born of the same species? Is your heart buried deep in your chest?

When first our hero Seleucia discovered himself a demigod, he was but a child. By age twelve he was widely regarded as the most powerful inhabitant of his small village. He would often defend justice in the playground, protecting the weaker children from the older and stronger ones.

Once, for example, he tore the arm of an aggressive child clean off, tendons ripping and tearing, all for theft of the cookie jar.

Seleucia found himself in dire need of adventure. He grew tired of earning wages by defeating beasts around the village for show, and decided to seek out Marquis Dalan, the wisest of mongers in the country, once cast down by the Empire some two hundred years prior.

“Northward, in the frigid peaks of Mount Zither, lives a Man bound by insanity. His sword is known to have slain many a behemoth. It will grant you immortality. But beware; he has been transfigured into something wretched.”
