New businesses are likely to require a number of different types of insurance. Some are compulsory:

Employers' liability compulsory insurance

Motor insurance, if your business uses vehicles on the road or other public places

Professional indemnity insurance for businesses in professions such as law and accountancy

Mandatory and optional cover

When you start a business, you automatically have compulsory legal obligations to your customers, employees and towards the public in general.

Employers’ liability insurance; this is purchased for all employees except for your family members working with you. This insurance covers you against the claims of employees for any injury or harm to their health as a result of working for you.

Motor vehicles’ liability insurance; covers all the accidents or damages to the motor vehicles owned by your company for the purpose of business.
