Most of us have an inherent desire to lead but somehow always find it difficult to motivate ourselves. This does not mean that you can’t work on it; with the help of certain tools you can work on motivating yourself to lead.
The following are the tools we will discuss in this publication:
The Demotivator Demolisher.
The Need-Effort Bridge.
Finally, the Passion Propulsion.
This tool involves killing off the killjoy. In this step, you identify the demotivating factors affecting you and then work on tackling them one by one.
Demotivation is looked upon as two levels:
First is the fundamental motivation to lead.
At the second level, there are the daily distractions and irritations at work which prevent you from performing your job well.
Your motivation to lead can be assessed by the Motivation Assessment tool, which will help you discover how motivated you are to lead and whether you look forward to the rewards as well as the responsibility which comes with leadership.
The benefits and fruits of leadership are quite obvious, but at times you will be faced with situations when you find something is holding you back, or after some introspection you realize that you’re not sure if you want to lead a team.
