The Writer's Anointing
*******
Every writer struggles to find their place in this world. Some already know what they want to write and others feel their way along in various genres as they go until they finally stumble upon something that works or “clicks” so-to-speak. Either way one gets there, every writer feels the compelling need to write something.
In ancient times, those who could read and write were known as scribes. They kept records for kings and priests. Prophets of old were also considered scribes in that they literally wrote the words of God as God spoke to them personally. Such oracles became the old and new testaments, or the Bible as we know today. During the time of Jesus, scribes were also considered lawyers as they were experts in Jewish law since they wrote it. This gave scribes a lot of unwarranted power. Almost everyone can type in the computer age we live in today, but that doesn't necessarily make them a scribe.
Who are the scribes of today?
To answer that question, we need to explore what it means to be anointed of God. Many Christians believe the anointed of God are well-known preachers such as Joel Olsteen, Beth Moore, Max Lucada, Joyce Myers, and Chuck Swindoll. Although these popular speakers and teachers of God's Word have created very reputable and successful ministries, the Bible says every believer is anointed. “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” Acts 2:17 (NIV) Many Christian's are inspired to write as an encouragement to the body of Christ, to lead others to God, teach the Word of God, or for some other specific purpose. Then there are those who write just for the sheer pleasure of it. They provide inspirational and entertaining stories for others to enjoy.
