Part One: Odds

Life, or Passion?

Is your passion life,

Or do you live for passion?

Are you original,

Or do you conform to fashion?

Is life living, breathing,

Or something so much more?

Is life itself a purpose,

Or just an open door?

Are you glad to be alive,

Or alive to be glad?

Why are we depressed,

When things are going bad?

You get a promotion,

Your heart leaps with glee.

But why, for a burden lifted,

Or the responsibility it will bring?

Do you look forward to work,

And the paycheck that it brings?

Or for the look on your wife’s face,

When you buy her a new ring?

Do you live to make others happy,

Or just to stay alive?

If you chase material gains,

How can your spirit thrive?

Tell me what life would be,

If we were all the same,

Would it be interesting,

Or simply outright lame?

If we were all the same,

Life would never change.

The greatest things invented,

Are by those once thought strange.

Living isn’t breathing,

But making a difference.

Finding your own voice,

Even if no-one listens.

What are we remembered for?

The ways considered norm?

Or all the ways that we,

Were different from the norm.

So think on these words,

And ask yourself this question,
