Abundance is Simply a Choice

Not what we have but what we enjoy, constitutes our abundance.”

—John Petit-Senn

Do you always feel like you have a little less than you want in your life? Maybe you have a little less love, a little less money, or a little less health than you really want. You know more is possible because you see people who seem to have it all. Why do they have it and you don’t?

Living abundantly is not a matter of what people actually have, but how they think. You can live a life of abundance by simply making a few changes in your own thinking. The biggest key is appreciating what you already have and using it wisely.

Living in abundance means that even when you can’t see it, you know that you have everything you need at every moment in time—friends, family, money, health and love. With this state of mind, things flow easily and in an unending stream. This book will help you learn to recognize the abundance that already exists in every area of your life.

We all have different ideas about what our abundant lives would look like. For some of us it would be enough to have true love in our lives. Others want to see material possessions before they believe they are living in abundance. What is the difference between these people? What would it take for you to feel you are living in abundance?

You attract abundance based on what you think you deserve. What you think you deserve is based on your past experiences. When people hold themselves in high esteem and expect abundance, they are respectful of their things and their lives. Being respectful means being responsible and planning your life, which attracts abundance in a positive way. If, on the other hand, you are living your life by default and you fail to plan, it’s hard to attract abundance.

No matter how much you’re living with an abundant mindset right now, it is the act of becoming abundant that is as important as the abundance itself! To find your abundant life, you must take a journey, and the journey is as fun as the ultimate rewards!

Prepare for an Abundant Journey

You can’t predict, you can prepare. Experience the power of making decisions based on security instead of worry, readiness instead of reluctance, abundance instead of lack.”

—Kathy Gates

Have you ever taken a long trip? Think of how you planned and prepared for the trip. First, you decided where you wanted to go. Did you want to go near water, the mountains, to a big city or an amusement park?

You started imagining in detail what it would be like as you thought about each aspect of the trip: the people on the trip with you, the activities you would participate in, how you would get there, and how long it would take. Would you stay in a motel or cabin? Would you eat in the room or in a nice restaurant? What did you need to pack and what would you leave behind? How much money would you need to budget? You planned the route you would take and maybe even planned to take some side trips along the way.

Unfortunately, most of us spend far more time planning for a trip then we do for our life’s journey! If we planned our vacation like most of us plan our life, we would get into a car and drive aimlessly and hope we would end up at a great destination. That may be alright for a simple bike trip but not for life’s journey. Most of us would not enjoy this kind of vacation.

If we planned our life like a trip we would spend a lot of time thinking about what we really want and what our purpose was. We would map out our directions and create a financial plan to get there.

If you envisioned your life as you did your trip, what would it look like? Would you drive a nice car and live in a big home? Would you have children? How would you spend your free time? What would be the purpose of your life? What career would you choose? What baggage in your life would you leave behind? Who would go with you?

Map Your Journey

Remember, there is no perfect time for anything. There is only now. We encourage you with all of our hearts to begin your journey to greater levels of fulfillment and productivity now."

—Jack Canfield

Would you leave on your vacation without first getting a map, scheduling a flight, or reserving a place to stay? You should plan your life like you do your vacation. Unlike a road map for your trip, a life map doesn’t show routes or how far to go down the path. Instead, a life map is one that brings alive your deepest desires in every area of your life.

Start creating your map by imagining where you will be at each stage of your life’s journey. Then, if you want to be successful, do what successful people do and write down your specific goals.
