It’s All About Joy
Chapter One
John’s Story
It was Saturday afternoon and I was sitting on the couch in the living room after watching the football game. I felt desperate because I did not know what to do about my life.
My insurance sales had dropped during the last year and my company was thinking about to let me go. My wife, Mary, was unhappy in our marriage and was thinking about leaving me. She was away for the weekend visiting her mother.
I cried out for help.
And then something extraordinary happened…
I heard a knock at the back door of my house.
When I went to see who was there, it was a big, friendly man who motioned for me to come outside.
I did not know him but there was something about him that I trusted. Without thinking, I opened the door.
“I am Raido and I am from the planet Lemo in the northern sky. We would like to help you find more joy in your life so that you can share joy in the world.
If you like, I can take you there now.”
For some reason, I trusted Raido and after locking the front and back doors, I followed him into a spaceship.
I walked in and the door closed behind us. I sat down and watched Raido push the buttons that began our journey into space.
Instead of feeling afraid, I felt curious.
I do not know how long we were in space. Suddenly, we landed on a hard surface and after a moment, I heard a knock at the door. A beautiful woman opened it and came inside.
“My name is Maida. I am an ambassador to the people of other planets. I am here to introduce you to our planet Lemo and to our people. Would you like to come outside?”
I walked outside the spaceship and stepped onto the ground. There were beautiful trees everywhere, similar to our redwood trees. The air was cool and crisp. We walked together and Maida continued.
“We invite people from other planets to come here to discover joy.
Lemo is known in our galaxy as the planet of joy. We believe that it is joy that people are yearning for and that once they find it, they will create a wonderful life for themselves and others. Everyone on your planet will feel this joy and live in peace once again.
Would you like to stay for one day so that you can discover more about joy?”
“Yes.”
She smiled. “One of the things we like to do when people come for the first time is to invite them to heal the past hurts and wounds of their heart. You see, our hurts get covered over with anger and fear and then we do not trust ourselves or others. This makes it harder to express our creativity in the world. When we keep it inside, it can lead to alcohol, drugs, crime, war and isolation.
Everyone has hurts in their heart until they heal them.
Even members of our own community in Lemo heal their feelings whenever they need to.
We have developed some wonderful ways to help people heal. It does not have to take forever and this way you become free to make new and happier choices for your life.
Would you like to experience a healing now?”
“Yes I would.”
“There is a lake over there to the right. At the bottom is a special house which we use for healing. Loraia, one of our elder healers, is there now. He can help you to release the hurts you are still holding from your childhood.”
We stopped in front of a small hut.
“There is a swimsuit inside which you can use. I will wait for you here.”
I changed into the swimsuit and greeted Maida again.
She spoke. “How do you feel?”
“I am happy to be here and ready to heal the past.”
She smiled. “I will be here when you return.”

“I did not know what to expect and had never done any healing work before.
I dove into the lake and found that I could breathe underwater.
In the distance was the special house Maida had told me about. I swam until I reached it.
A tall man with graceful features greeted me. I could tell that Loraida was old in years and yet he had a kind of beauty that made him look young. His eyes sparkled as he spoke.
In his high-pitched, melodic voice he greeted me.
“Welcome John. I am Loraida. Would you like to come in?”
We went inside. He motioned for me to sit down in the front room with him. Surprisingly, there was no water inside the house.
“Please have a seat.”
I sat down.
“We are happy that you are here. Did Maida tell you about the healing work we do here?”
“Yes, she did.”
“I’d like to share more with you about the work we do so that you feel comfortable before we begin.
When you heal hurts from the past, you heal them not only for yourself but for everyone on your planet. When each person becomes free of the wounds in their heart, your planet gets a little closer to enjoying joy and peace again. This is another reason why it is so important that each person does his own healing.
When our hurts are healed, we can live in joy and share it with others. It is really that simple.
It is impossible to live in joy when we feel angry, hurt, sad or disappointed. Most people walk around with these feelings most of their lives without ever knowing what they are feeling and how their feelings affect themselves and others.
