Introduction
This set of poker table plans will assist you through the various stages of poker table design and construction. These plans are to be used as a reference guide for you to build a high quality, classic design poker table. We cannot guarantee the quality of your table when you’re done, as that depends on the efforts that you put into your table. I strongly recommended that you read all chapters before you apply any building concepts into actual table construction.
In every chapter involving construction, we will provide you with a list of required materials and tools, as well as a list of recommended tools that may allow for faster and easier construction. You should make a list of all the tools and materials you will actually use to build your table.
We recommend that you read all the sections of these plans so that you become familiar with all the tools and supplies that you need before you begin.
Safety
Due to differing conditions, tools, and individual skills, Powers Publishing assumes no responsibility for any damages, injuries suffered, or losses incurred as a result of following the information published in this book. Before beginning any project, review the instructions carefully, and if any doubts or questions remain, consult local experts or authorities. Always use and follow the safety instructions and manuals for any and all power tools and hand tools used while you build your poker table. You should also wear proper protective gear during construction that includes safety glasses, respirator, and hearing protection.
Inches to Metric Conversion
The measurements in this guide are written in inches and feet. Use the table below if you want to convert inches to centimeters.
1 Inch = 2.54 Centimeters
1 Foot = .3048 Meters
1 Foot = 30.48 Centimeters
Designing the Poker Table That Fits Your Needs
Before you start any building project, create a vision of the end result. Below are some decisions that you should make while designing your poker table:
Length of your poker table
the length of your table determines how many players you can seat. With these plans, you can make any length of table up to 96 inches (8 ft). Here are some example table lengths and seating arrangements: 96” seats up to 10 players, 84” seats up to 8 players, 72” seats up to 6 players, 60” seats 4 to 5 players.
Width of the padded rail (not the table width)
Determining the rail width is an important step in designing your poker table. The wider your table rail, the less playing surface you will have. The table being built with these plans utilizes a 5 inch wide padded rail. The rail width can be modified by manipulating the templates that are discussed in these plans. Another popular rail width is a 4 inch wide rail which gives a little more playing surface.
Recessed drink holders
These plans have sections dedicated to installing recessed drink holders. We will show you how to install the drink holders directly into the table top. If you choose to not include drink holders into your table, simply skip those sections.
Table legs or base
Due to the numerous options for table legs and bases, these plans do not include instruction on how to make or install table legs, although, we will give some useful tips on where and when to install the legs or base of your choice. Take into consideration the length of your poker table when deciding on the table leg style and refer to installation instructions for any legs that you may purchase.
Table top fabric color
There are many options regarding fabric choices and color. We have suggested a number of retailers to purchase fabric from in the List of Associated Materials and Suppliers section of these plans. Be careful with purchasing felt from a local craft store as most craft felt will ball and pill up after very short use.
