***********

It was a dark, cold, dreary night as John Terrance barreled down the lone road in his rebuilt 1977 Corvette. He looked in the rear view mirror to make sure no one was following him. The full moon hovering in the sky above gave him ample light to see if someone was trailing him, but all that was creeping up behind him was the clouds rolling in from the west. He made many of these night excursions, offering various excuses to his wife as to why he would come home late or not at all and her paranoia had to be consuming her as he found himself making the trips more frequent as of late.

John was a tall handsome man, dark hair, blue eyes, and a well-defined body. His shaved chest gave away to the definition of his pectorals, the rippling biceps that every woman craved, and a face like a prince with just the right amount of stubble. He was always popular with the women and his wife knew that he could take whoever he pleased. This night was not the case, as John had a deep dark secret fantasy that he played out night after night.

Over a year ago, John met a slightly younger man named Richard Serrano, he often playfully referred to as Rick. Rick went to the same gym as him and they found themselves often chatting in the locker room since their schedules seem to line up perfectly. Like John, Rick had a similar frame, although he was not as bulky as John. As they became friends, John began helping Rick with his weight training and, before they both knew it, each other’s problems. As time went on they began getting closer and closer, until their passion could no longer contain itself. They were forbidden lovers who relished their desires in the shadows.

So they both decided to meet, in private, and take their love away from the eyes of the public. Although Rick wasn’t married, it would still be an issue for both of them if it was ever discovered. John was risking his family and Rick was risking his job. Those limits did not stop them and they took every chance to stay in touch.

Tonight, John was driving out to Rick’s cabin for the first time. It was located deep out in the woods and they decided that since the snow was melting that they would start meeting there. Rick was adamant about meeting tonight, he had a special surprise to show John, but it was not as if John wasn’t dying to see his lover already.

The cold rain began to fall as he neared the road that led to the cabin. He was grateful that it did not start sooner, as his car was very precious to him and the roads weren’t exactly in the best condition. He’d have to mention something about it when he arrived. In the distance, he could see a warm glow permeating from the cabin in the distance, glowing like the fire that burned in their hearts.

John pulled in to the front and pulled his jacket tight. As he opened the car door he felt the damp outside air rush against him as the rain began pouring down. He hurried in through the front door of the cabin, the water making his shirt cling to his chest outlining each of the creases in his sculpted abs. His hair, short and neat, was now a rugged mess that made him look even more masculine than before.

“Hey there, I see you found the place,” Rick said with a devilish smile on his face.

“Yeah, the rain came as I was pulling in. Thankfully it hasn’t gotten too bad yet,” John said as lightning flashed from the sky outside. The full moon now being covered by the clouds as the sound of rain smashing against the cabin grew into a low howl.

“I’ve missed you this last week. It’s a shame we couldn’t find time for each of us to meet,” Rick said softly as he stood up to begin making a pot of coffee, “Tell me about your week. I want every detail.”

John took his coat off revealing even more of his well-defined body that was glowing with a golden sheen thanks to his wet white t-shirt. He walked softly over to the breakfast table taking in the rustic nature of the cabin. The furniture was all-wooden which gave off a warm inviting tone as the soft yellow light bounced off of each. He took a seat as Rick joined him.

“Nothing much happened last week to note. I went on a fishing trip on Wednesday and golf on Thursday, but nothing that you would consider interesting,” John said as he eyes affixed on his lover.

“Aww man, come on you’ve got to have done something to share with me. Tell you what, give me one good story and I’ll make it worth your white,” Rick’s face began to glow with excitement as each word was enunciated.

John dropped into thought for a few seconds and smiled, “I did read a good book last week, it was something I picked up awhile back. You don’t want to hear about it.”

“Yes I do!” Rick replied with a strong sense of enthusiasm as the coffee maker began winding down.

“Alright, alright, it was a tender story about a man who lost his mother and the years of him trying to find her,” John replied with defeat heavily in his voice.

Rick stood up and retrieved two cups of coffee in white mugs, one dark like John loved, and his with a hint of sugar and cream. “See, you have such a sensitive side about you. Shame that Kimberly doesn’t see that and puts you down for it,” his eyes locking with Johns, ”Which is why I love you. I can see your tender side so well.”

John fumbled with what to say to that. He wasn’t good with sharing his feelings, something that the both of them had been working diligently on. Rick was discovering that while John didn’t look it, he had a soft caring side that was waiting to be unleashed and he was going to see it.

“I guess. All right, enough, tell me about your week. My mind has been flooded with thoughts of you all week. I need to know,” John said.

“Well,” Rick gazed softly into John’s eyes as he took a sip from his cup, “I did about as much as you. Sat home, watched T.V., went over and played poker with a few friends on Friday. Mostly, though, I thought about you.”

The two of them sat, locked eye to eye with each other. John’s well-defined body was still moist from the rain, which made him have a slight shimmer as the low romantic lighting. A large burst of lightning outside crackled, breaking their lover’s stare.
