A Woman’s Identity

Women seem to lose who they are

In your heart, it leaves a scar.

You were a individual before you where married

With family and children, the burden you carry.

Looking after everyone else’s needs

Your inner spirit begins to plead.

The guilt you feel when you take time for you

Makes you feel it is always wrong to do.

When you go out on a shopping spree

I forgot to buy something just for me.

Somehow we, are taught right from the start

Our feelings inside do not play apart.

We, are taught how to care and to nurture

Remember you are raising the future.

A woman’s shoulder is very strong

She gives hugs and kisses when things go wrong.

A woman’s identity

Is her quest for her life long serenity?

A Woman’s Power

We have this gift embedded inside

We carry it with us a sense of pride.

We are required to be many things

How do we do this the wonder it brings.

We, are considered to be the weaker ones

The impact we have speaks a ton.

We have the ability to capture your heart

We contribute a lot and play a big part.

We are mothers, sisters and best friends

We stand by our man to the bitter end.

We nurture our children then they become adults

We have our mood swings and our faults.

We are responsible for the domestic chores

We do laundry, dishes and sweeping the floors.

A woman is challenge in life each day

We do this for free and without any pay.

If a man could walk a mile in our shoes

He would sing our praises that’s the least he could do.

He would treat us with the respect that we deserve

He should not always expect to be served.

Women, have a power that is not man made

It’s been around for several decades.

When a man calls us names and screams and shouts

It is of his insecurities coming out.

A women’s power makes the world go round

It is a gift inside that makes no sound.

When a Woman Feels Insecure

I wanted to hear your voice on the phone

I was tired of feeling I was all alone

I had not seen you for several weeks

Very few words did we even speak

I missed you to the point that it really hurt

My spirits were down somewhere in the dirt

I left you a message to make time for me

I needed to know where you setting me free

We had spoken on the phone just the night before

You left me wanting you even more

I felt that I, was just being ignored

Night after night sitting at home, feeling so bored

My phone is ringing it’s you on the line

You were thinking of me it was a sign

A few moments later came a knock on the door

I opened the door and my spirits began to soar

Standing there with the smile on his face

Was my love as my heart started to, race

Tears starting falling down my cheeks

Be still my heart my knees are feeling weak

Never before has a man been so kind

He new I was hurting how this would ease my mind

My love lives several hours away

He showed me his love upon this day

Feeling insecure was making me sad

He brighten, my day and made me feel glad

A Woman Needs Time

I used to think it was a selfish thing

To want happiness and what it would bring

From the very start, I put myself last

My wants and needs I would always cast

I had a hard time learning to live

I thought it was my job to always, give

You give to your family and your friends

This path, you travel seems to never end

It is time to make a healthy change

Your priorities, you must rearranged

When you deny yourself the pleasure of life

It was lost somewhere between being a mother or wife

You struggle to find your individuality

You are just, so busy, this is your reality

No time to find a quiet place

The stress, is written on your face

You are feeling lost with nowhere to go

Taking another trip to the grocery store

You have the right to feel free

A decision I made to make time for me

What Ever Happens Between You and I

I remember when we first met

I was looking for someone a date to get

You answered my message that I had sent

Our conversation was good on a date we went

There was an attraction from the start

In my life, you played a big part

I learned you lived in a different state

Our relationship, would be challenged at any rate

I had some baggage that was in my heart

You gave me courage to make a new start

I felt some things that were not there before

You had opened up a brand new door

We have been friends for a few months

My feelings have grown we have had a few bumps

You showed me how I could stand on my own

Day after day, I am still alone

I do not regret the time that we had

I have no reason to feel hurt or sad

What Ever Happens Between You and I

I will carry the rewards until I die

A Woman Needs Romance

Men, were taught the ultimate respect

They, were looked down upon for showing women disrespect

There was a time when a man would opened a car door

Respectfully ask her out to the dance floor

Roses and romance, or just to be admired

Those days are gone and chivalry is retired

What happened to just a peck on the cheek

A sign of respect no insults he would speak

A man would walk his date to the door

Now, it’s, only done because, he’s hoping to score

A man would never think of raising his hand

A lasting future with love is what he had planned

He would not ever cheat on his wife

He was married to her for the rest of his life

Times continue to change in away

How we wish we were back in the good ole days

Women read romance novels and fantasy tales

Searching for love with all the details

What Happened to romance through the years

It is a lost art so it appears

When a Woman Believes

Things are not always as they seem

Is it reality or just a dream?

Things in life are not always fair

Sometimes it feels like no one cares.

You take the path that you choose

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

Decisions in life are not always an easy task

Sometimes it’s easier to hide behind a mask.

There are things in life that you can change

Some things remain just out of your range.

Greet each day with a positive attitude

There is no need for you to be rude.

Things that cause you to have, a horrible heartache

Sometimes in life are just too much for you to take.

Step back for a moment and take a break

Do what ever it takes.

You will always be relieved

When you trust in yourself and believe.

Women of Mystery

Men say that we are a complete mystery

Answers have been sought through out history.

A woman is not so hard to understand

We were created to help carry out God’s plan.

We are the daughters of Mother Nature you see

We are the foundation to our future to be.

We are the voice you hear in your heart

In a man’s world we play a big part.

A gift was placed deep in our soul

Women’s intuition if you did not know.

We have the ability to create a new life

To always stand by your side and become your wife.

We all have a desire that is in our heart

To always be caring and nurturing from the start.

We are very fragile when comes to our emotions

We are capable of giving you a love potion.

When we find the man of our dreams

Our unconditional love flows like a stream.

We ask in return you treat us with respect

Not to be squashed like a tiny insect.

We ask for love, understanding, and compassion

Women do this with unconditional passion

Women are not a mystery as you see

We can’t help that in life we hold the key

Jungle Love

Something clinging to my inner vines

While my emotions tremble and start to whine.

With an animal instinct to be loved

Surly this is Nature’s way of giving you a shove.

Creating a passionate heat with an exotic desire

Emotions are high creating a raging fire.

Jungle drums keeping beat to the sound of our hearts

our pounding rhythm has engulfed us no tearing us apart.

Like hot volcanic lava starting to flow

our sexual juices are starting to blow.

Our bodies glistening like a warm tropic rain

our thoughts of pleasure in our hearts remain.

Our jungle love ritual is completed and done

our minds and bodies intertwined as one.

My Strength

Why do I search for a loving embrace?

His arms open wide for the entire race.

A gentle spirit you feel in your heart

A guide in your life he plays a big part.

Your sorrows he hears when you speak

An unconditional love theirs no need to seek.

A friend you have through all eternity

That inner peace brings a gift of serenity

He turns my frown into a smile

Never once leaving my side through life’s little trials

Sometimes in life I lose my way

Heartache and pain it fills my day.

I look to the heavens far up above

In my heart he shows me compassion and love.

I sing him praises for my life he spared

An intimate moment in prayer we shared.

No other man can even compare

My lord all mighty I know you care.

You wipe my tears when they fall

Forgive my sins no matter how big or small.

I turn to you in my moment of need

For God I have planted that spiritual seed.

Sunday Morning

The smell of coffee brewing in the air

Out on my balcony at Mother Nature I stare.

The morning is bright with a wintry bite

Watching birds taking off in there glorious flight.

Sounds of life as I begin a new day

Children are up and are starting to play.

My thoughts are clouded with an image of you

A relationship starting it is so brand new

I wonder if you are still warm in your bed

Thoughts of you are caught in my head

Very little time do we have to spend all a lone?

Lots of things in common a friendship is shown.

My thoughts have drifted to a night spent with you

A lasting relationship I will want to pursue.

The ground is covered with tiny drops of glistening dew

The only thing missing I am not sharing it with you.

Battered Women

Battered women come from all walks of life

Unspeakable pain endured by sisters, mothers, friends and wives.

The first time it happens you are in shock

It was over something silly like losing a lock.

He leaves the house with and excuse to go drink

My stomach is sick I threw up in the sink.

He returns home later feeling remorse

This will never happen again but of course.

Times goes by the bruises are healed

The wrenching pain in your heart has been sealed.

Family and friends are unaware

It is too embarrassing to want to share.

You blame yourself for making him mad

I promise to you I will never be bad.

Deep in your heart he has created a fear

Get up woman and get me a beer.

The physical and mental control has begun

His potential violence is like a loaded gun.

Years of this abuse leaves you sad and alone

There is no way possible raising a child on my own.

So the cycle continues and only gets worse

The damage is done no money in my purse.

Women are battered by no choice of there own

They are belittled, embarrassed scared to the bone.

This is a epidemic our nation had saw

To abuse a woman is against the law.

If you are reading this you have survived

Many more woman have lost and died

Woman’s Intuition

This is a gift that is hard to explain

For centuries now it has driven men insane.

This is something that cannot be taught

An insight to a woman’s travels which never can be bought.

The ability to know things deep in your heart

It is instilled in us right from the start.

It becomes more powerful through out the years

It speaks to you so that know one else can hear.

It creates a clear picture inside your head

To decipher words that once was said.

This is the voice that will catch you in a lie

It is something inside until the day we die.

It gives us the knowledge to understand

In raising our children it is our helping hand.

It is not an emotion it is hard to describe

A woman’s intuition cannot be bribed.

A Woman’s Prayer

Give me the strength I need to survive

A new life to start is about to arrive.

I have a career to help make ends meet

I have an obligation to keep the house neat.

With a child I am raising at home

My time is precious not of my own.

Give me the strength to greet each day

Allow me to handle what ever comes my way.

My days are long and no time to rest

I feel like my life is always a test.

It is the weekend not time to sleep in

There is laundry to do and the floors need sweeping.

Give me the strength to always be strong

The ability to cope when things start going wrong

The washing machine has overflowed

Out in the yard the lawn needs mowed.

I gave my husband a honey do list

I will do it later as he insists.

A woman’s prayer changes each day

It gives her the strength and lights her way.

A Woman’s Nature

We are creatures with emotional needs

With kindness and hope we plant the seeds.

We can fall in love and become someone’s wife

We have the ability to create a life.

It is natural for us to be a foundation

We are the back bone to the entire nation.

Our hearts are worn upon our sleeves

We create dreams with a chance to believe.

We are patience with a nurturing side

We are able to dry the tears that are ultimately cried.

To comfort a child in there time of need

Written in time this is a mother’s creed.

The ability to be your number one fan

Creating a life full of memories this was gods plan

A woman’s nature is to be loving and kind

The foundation to a family is what you will find.

When Women Struggle

We are challenged in our everyday lives

We play a role of mother’s and wives.

We are educated and show we are smart

Our pay is lower from the very start.

We balance our families and careers

The going is tough we shed many tears.

We carry the burden of a nurturing kind

To our accomplishments sometimes men are blind.

Men do believe when there work day is done

They deserve to come home and have some fun.

So, on the couch when you open the door

You find your man lying there starting to snore.

Women come home after working all day

There is dinner to make not time to play.

The children need bathing and homework to be done

Laundry heeds washing my god there is a ton.

Dinner is done and you put away the food

Patience are worn you are in a bad mood

It is nine o’clock time for children to go to bed

Your feet are aching and your body feels dead.

A woman struggles to get through her day

Your husband does not understand why you don’t want to play.

When a Woman Fails

Her heart fills heavy like a mud drenched lake

The inner pain she feels sometimes is more than she can take.

Just as quickly and violently as a thunder storm

These failures come in many different forms.

A tornado of destruction swirling inside

The oceans of tears at night in her bed are cried.

Like the hurricane winds that rip through her soul

A sense of loneliness only she can know.

Her heart is battered with gulf sized hail

She has lost her way on a snow covered trail.

These emotions flow like a breaking dam

I am a woman of strength I am.

Women can weather a lifetime of storms

Our triumph comes in many different forms.

Women of Color

Made up from the colors of her life

With wonderful experience’s created from being a mother or wife.

A masterpiece from within her heart

Created from memories for the most part

She sees the colors within her mind

Painted with the finest bristles she can find

This portrait of life created inside

With vibrant colors reflecting courage and pride.

This portrait of life can never be bought

It was created by lessons in life that was taught.

A spiritual gift handed down through the years

The ability to paint life just as it appears.

A woman’s color is invisible to the naked eye

A work of art that is never finished until the day she dies.

My Daughter

An identity she searches for that is all her own

The essence of a woman not yet full grown

I am old enough to do as I want

In my mind how these words seem to haunt.

She works two jobs to go out and play

Help me out mom I have bills to pay.

She is a senior in her final year

Her maturity level has not yet appeared.

When I am eighteen I will be free to be me

Excuse me daughter your rent will not be free.

We bicker and fight over her spending rights

The nasty words she says just out of spite.

She goes off to school without a goodbye

My wisdom goes unnoticed no matter how hard I try.

I am the one who as created this mess

Now I have to deal with all this stress.

I sheltered and protected this child of mine

I did everything for her now I am paying the fine.

I saw the wrong that I was doing

A more responsible daughter is what I am pursuing.

On My Own

I am a woman out on my own

I am widowed living life all alone

Changes in life some not of my choice

Trying to survive with advice from my inner voice

It’s been over a year since my husband died

The ocean’s of tears in my bed at night that I cried.

I walk a path this is not always clear

Sometimes I am not as confident as I appear.

I had to learn to conquer the fear

I have learned a new path and the future is clear

Finding the strength from deep down inside

Creating a sense of courage and pride

Taking each day and doing my best

On my own I am passing this test.

Feeling Alone

My spirit is down like the falling rain

The week was long and my body is drained.

So many things seem to happen at once

Sometimes I feel like such a dunce.

Making decisions whether they are good or bad

Doing them alone it can make me sad.

I have been making it on my own

Raising my daughter its hard all alone.

I wish I had someone to come home to at night

To help with this burden of this endless fight

Hardly enough money to make ends meet

I am one paycheck away from being on the street.

Most of my time I spend at my home

Reflecting on life and how much I have grown.

A tortured past I have survived

An independent woman has begun to arrive.

A woman who has had shattered dreams

Sometimes it feels like I am coming apart at the seams.

Someone to hold me when things go wrong

Helping me achieve and to remain strong.

Wanting to feel a loving touch

Another night alone sometimes is just too much.

In My Dreams

The peaceful slumber of sleep arrives

My heart is alone and it has been deprived.

The events of the day has left me blue

Another night spent alone without you.

I know not where to look for love

I look for the answers from heaven above.

The feeling of loneliness while I am awake

At times it is just too much for my heart to take.

In my dreams I am hoping to find

Someone who loves me gentle and kind

I wake up several times in the night

This inner turmoil has caused a fight.

My dreams do not offer the peace of mind

To show me a love my eyes are blind.

I begin to think what is wrong with me

I am damaged goods from what used to be.

The night has gone and the sun is awake

In my dreams are they real or fake.

Natures Melody

It is coming down hard on this desert land

Disappearing in the hot and thirsty sand

The lightening dances through the darkened sky

The thunder answers back with a heart wrenching cry.

The rain hit’s the valley like a speeding train

The music of natured pounds through your brain

Mother Nature has created a masterpiece

With water filled clouds a melody released.

The sage brush is swaying to the gentle wind

Just waiting for an encore to begin

The show has ended for the night

Our valley is glistening, what a glorious sight.

My Island

A place that exists in my soul

A place of serenity that only I know

A place that can be reached in my dreams at night

A place where my spirit takes off in flight

Where a rhythm flows from a mountain stream

Between the trees in the sunlight it beams.

The sounds of nature as she sings

The comfort and warmth this place always brings.

The fragrance of tropic flowers fills my senses

My heart is free without any fences.

This peaceful place not touched by man

A place I visit at night is my plan.

Protected from a world where no one cares

Away from a world filled with despair.

Hatred and racism is never spoken

A place where your heart is never broken

My island gives me the sense of tranquility

A place I find my serenity.

Friends

We met only a few months ago

A friendship began my pal and amigo.

An understanding what the other one needs

To our future we are planting the seeds.

The fruits of our friendship we are starting to sow

Slowly put surely they continue to grow.

Our hearts are becoming intertwined

Our souls are starting to combine.

We live apart in two different states

Just a few times a month are we able to date.

Busy with children and lives of our own

For right now we talk on the phone.

My heart leaves with you whenever you go

I am falling in love I hope you know.

I bury my face for it tears that are cried

My feelings are showing I can no longer hide.
