The framed photograph was picked up off the cabinet top and wiped over lovingly with a soft cloth. The picture was then replaced and carefully positioned as before.
Kelly Henderson paused to admire the wedding photo, a smile splitting her face. The picture was taken on their wedding day only six months ago. Her husband Matt looked so handsome in his black tuxedo, white shirt and red bow tie. And she had to admit, she didn’t look half bad herself, all made up in her dazzling off-white wedding gown with its lacy trim of pale pink.
Matt came inside, his face flustered and filled with concern.
At twenty-six he was young and extremely fit. He didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, had an aversion to drugs and exercised in one form or another every single day. Although he abstained from bad habits, Matt was anything but boring. He lived life to the full as much as he could, and almost always had a smile on his face. This was a rare moment that he didn’t.
Kelly read her husband’s thoughts.
“It’s coming this way, isn’t it.” She said it as a statement and not a question.
He nodded grimly. “Certainly looks like it.”
