Holy Birth

On a night that was crisp and cool,

There was a murmur on the air -

All the eyes of friendly beasts stayed awake,

As nightingales sung out a tune to the world;


The haunting spirits woke from their sleep,

The wind whispered their thoughts over goodness having had become brought;

The words were told to those near and far,

And the world looked up to heaven and asked for a guiding star;


Lo and behold enough prayers were sent in order to make God light a torch!

He lit the heavens in order to give the world their arch angel,

And the orbs shone bright as they floated over the holy still,

In order to mark out a place where there was good and no ill;


Three wise men spied the stars move,

“Lo! A sign! God has spoken for the next divine!” they cried,

Before they picked up their travel bags and stalked the stars as they moved -

Stalked with horses who were footed and not horseshoed;
