Thanks for purchasing How To Level World of Warcraft Characters Fast. This guide teaches you how to level World of Warcraft characters, using the most efficient method possible.
This leveling guide targets players who have enough experience playing World of Warcraft to understand the basics of questing and running dungeons and battlegrounds. For newer players, I recommend that you brush up on the tutorials available on the World of Warcraft website and get some experience playing the game for a couple of weeks.
As with every other skill you develop in life, you get out what you put in. Leveling characters quickly and efficiently is hard work in a best-case scenario. It requires a lot of focus a small amount of planning. If you follow the strategies outlined in this guide, you will be very pleased with the results.
Before Starting
We begin with a discussion of useful addons.
First, log out of World of Warcraft. To install an addon, download the addon (typically from curse.com) and decompress it into your Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons directory. If the Addons directory does not exist, then create it. Next, log back into Worlf of Warcraft. When you are at the character select screen, click the Addons button in the lower left-hand corner.
Carbonite is a powerful questing addon. Let us cover some of its most important features. Carbonite replaces the built-in map and mini map when you first log in. The new mini map allows you to zoom in and out and easily track quests.

Cataclysm introduced a new type of quest completion mechanic. On some quests, once you complete them, a large question mark will appear on the screen, which allows you to complete the quest immediately. This conveniently saves you a trip back to the quest turn-in Non-Player Character (NPC).
Carbonite is a great addon, but as of this writing, it has one big flaw. You cannot complete these types of quests using Carbonite. When you complete this type of quest, you will need to log out, disable Carbonite, and then log back on and complete it.
To track a quest, right click the quest in on the map and check the Track checkbox.

The map will then direct you to the location of that quest objective. Additionally, you can track anything on the map by right-clicking and choosing Goto.
This guide only covers a few of Carbonite’s plethora of features. Another great feature of Carbonite is its Guide functionality, which allows you to locate vendors, profession trainers, class trainers, inns, and so on.
The OmniCC addon shows the length of time remaining on cooldowns for your abilities. For example, if you cast the Mage Fireblast spell, it will display the number of seconds remaining on the cooldown.

This addon does not assist with questing, but it is nice to have.
Manually opening a bulk of mail messages is slow and tedious. The Postal addon solves this problem.

Postal
Postal has many features, but the most convenient one is the Open All button located at the bottom of the mail dialog as seen in the image above. It even reports how much money you collect when checking all of your mail messages.
The MapCoords addon displays your coordinates at the bottom of the map and below your character’s portrait. This guide relies on MapCoords to describe the location of various quest objectives in terms of coordinates.

Map Coords
Consumables like scrolls can assist with questing. They are not necessary, but it never hurts to have them handy. In our Hunter case study, we will stock up on healing potions, agility elixirs, and trolls blood elixirs.
Bags are the most important questing item to have. In our Hunter case example, we will start with four netherweave bags. They should not cost much.
The average auction house price of netherweave bags that I have seen on most servers is 7-10 gold.
Do not forget about having gold on hand. In our Hunter case example, we will start out with 40 gold.
Lastly, mail your character any heirloom gear you may have. Our hunter will make use of heirloom gear.
If you have 2 pieces of (Wrath of the Lich King) heirloom gear and you are in a level 6 guild, the result is a 30% increase in XP gained from killing monsters and completing quests. Cataclysm introduced more heirloom gear. There is a new cloak that increases XP gains by 5% (earned at guild level 10), and a helmet that increases XP gains by 10% (earned at guild level 20). If you add all of these increases up, it totals in increase in XP gains of 45%!
The fastest possible way, however, to level up characters is to make use of the Recruit-a-Friend program (RAF). Using RAF, as long as you are in the same party as a player in the linked World of Warcraft account, and within 5 levels of each other, you both receive a 70% increase in XP! See the World of Warcraft website for details on this awesome service.
Leveling Strategies Discussion
Our core leveling strategy revolves around three things, which include the following:
1.Questing
2.Dungeon Quests
3.Daily Battlegrounds
Each day we will queue for the daily battleground, for the bonus experience points (XP) and honor points. The rest of the strategy involves chain quests and the occasional random dungeon. About 80% of the time, you will be questing.
Performing quests in groups maximizes the amount of XP that you gain. Performing 1 or 2 quests, and then trekking all the way back to the quest giver is grossly inefficient. Collect every quest available in the zone, then head out, and do them all at the same time. Then head back and turn the entire bulk of completed quests in.
Blizzard improved quests a lot when it released Cataclysm. Unlike pre Cataclysm quests, Cataclysm quests are more compact and more entertaining. The starting quests in The Lost Isles conveniently place class trainers near quest givers. This eliminates having to make annoying trips back to cities in order to train.
Here are some useful tipes to keep in mind while questing:
•Make as few stops as possible.
Minimizing pit stops is the central theme of efficient questing. When you make pit stops in towns after turning in a bulk of quests, remember to repair, empty your bags, and keep your hearth stone set to a convenient location!
•Kill mobs as fast as possible.
This is an important tip! Become a KILLING MACHINE. Kill as if you are possessed. Kill with a sense of urgency. This separates the serious players from the lazy ones.
•Be anti-social: Focus on getting quests done and avoid getting into conversations with people if you can avoid it.
Be anti-social, but do not be rude to other players. The point here is to avoid getting into length conversations in guild chat, or stopping questing to help someone with a quest.
•Train less often: Quests are easy enough to perform that you do not always need to train as soon as you level. Stopping your questing, trekking all the way back into town, flying the gryphon to a major city, riding/walking to a trainer, and then traveling all the way back consumes a lot of time. In many cases, this is simply unnecessary.
Cataclysm quests have reduced a lot of overhead travel, but not all Cataclysm quests. This situation still frequently occurs while leveling.
•Neglect professions: Avoid stopping questing to skill up professions because it consumes an inordinate amount of time.
Neglecting first aid is arguable. First aid, like healing potions, can save your life in emergencies. However, this guide is about leveling characters as efficiently as possible, so avoid any activities that do not yield XP. The advantages of healion potions are they do not require any skilling up time.
•When questing, especially at low levels, avoid looting bodies whenever possible.
The exception to this rule is obviously when doing quests that require you to loot bodies. Vendor trash at lower levels worth very little. Another exception is if you would like to gather cloth to skill up first aid later on. The time it takes to loot bodies adds up over time.
Many players dislike chain questing because it is a lot of work. Instead, they opt to run chain dungeons. You can earn a decent amount of XP grinding in dungeons, but it has its disadvantages, which include the following:
•Less XP: You earn more average XP by fast questing than by grinding in dungeons.
•Reputation loss: Many quests offer reputation gains along with gold and XP. You lose this when you grind dungeons.
•Fewer achievements: By grinding dungeons, you miss quest completion achievements in a number of zones.
•Profession advancement loss: By grinding dungeons, you lose many opportunities to skill up professions like herbalism and mining.
Boredom is one of the biggest problems with repetitive dungeons. I have heard many players give the same sentiments in the thousands of dungeons I have run since vanilla.
Despite these disadvantages, as long as you are in a competent party, you can earn a decent amount of XP. To maximize XP when running dungeons, only run a given dungeon once you have quests for that dungeon.
Battlegrounds offer a non-negligible amount of XP and honor. Running battlegrounds follows a similar rule to running dungeons. Only run one battleground per day because you only receive bonus XP and honor once a day.
It behooves you to develop both Player vs. Environment (PvE) and Player vs. Player (PvP), and be a balanced player. PvP can be a lot of fun too! Making another human player can be very rewarding and sometimes hilarious.
Since you will spend 80% of your time questing, we will now cover the basic questing algorithm.
1.Gather all available quests.
2.Complete all quests in a cluster.
3.Turn quests back in.
4.Optionally repair and empty bags.
5.Goto step one.
As you can see, the algorithm is straightforward. Most of the time, you will simply be looping around different parts of zones, doing bulks of quests and turning them in.
Now We Move Onto a Real Life Example!
Now that we have covered the basic concepts, let us move onto a real life example.
