KIRSTEN

What if there was a way

To very honestly belong

To be truly accepted

Where you could finally just be you

Without the façade

Without the mask of perfect clothing

Your hair styled just right

Without makeup you were still beautiful

Without expensive jewelry

You still were worth something

What if you could just laugh with your friends

Until your face scrunched up all ugly

And pop came out your nose

What if we all didn’t care about

The name on your jeans

If your fancy jeans were

Simply the ones without a rip

Would time stand still in disgust

Or simply slow down

Giving us all a chance to laugh more

To cry more

To love more

To remember

BLIND

What if everyone was blind

To the imperfections of others

But more aware of the imperfections

They themselves must bear

And instead of seeing what others do not have

We saw what we ourselves have yet do not need

What if a friend only gave you friendship

And nothing more
