Foreword

Throughout the many years of communicating with The Council, they have graciously given us valuable information concerning health and nutrition. Although they would have much preferred to address spiritual issues, their love and compassion led them to advise us regarding our physical well-being. They have reminded us that they are helpers, not healers. Some of the information is revolutionary, some controversial, but most of it is just good common sense.

The information presented in this book is drawn from the psychic information channeled by Mr. William Allen LePar in the deep trance state. For more information on the LePar Phenomenon see the Appendix at the end of this book.

FLUORIDE

Systematic fluoridation of water supplies has been in question for decades. In spite of public protest against fluoridation, cities are forced to cooperate and in some instances are fined if they don't. From a dental standpoint, there is conclusive evidence that fluoride does indeed arrest tooth decay, but people should have the right to decide for themselves whether or not they want to use it. When The Council was questioned about using fluoride, their reply was startling:

Fluoridation is out of the question. It is an extremely dangerous situation. You are actually pumping in a toxin that can be detrimental to the body and, of course, the problems that it creates with the mental faculties and the ability to think clearly. We cannot approve industrial waste being used to tend to something so trivial as teeth. The side effects are far worse than losing a tooth or two!

Someone commented that fluoride has been used for over forty years and there have been no bad side effects cited. The Council interrupted with:

That is what YOU think! All the information that you are searching for is available if you will get out and do a little work on it. We are telling you this: Fluoridation is extremely dangerous when you weigh it against the simple protection of the teeth. Store_bought teeth will serve you as well if it comes to choosing between fluoridation and a cavity. Hear what we have to say. It is extremely dangerous. The only reason it was introduced or pushed was because it was a waste product of the chemical industry [the industries that sell the fluoride to the water companies.] They find a new market of profit and push it. It is not quite as simple as that . . . you really do not want to know the full story. Take our advice. It is not good for you. If you choose to use fluoride as a preventative for teeth problems then apply it directly; but this constant intake of it is not good.

They concluded with:

If it is necessary to tend to the problems of the teeth, then if fluoride were applied directly to the teeth, it would be far safer than introducing it to the entire body in minute doses.

Just recently researchers disclosed that drinking fluoride may increase the risk of hip fractures in people 65 and older. If you want to avoid fluoride, you'll have to drink distilled, bottled, or well water which you should have tested to insure it's as pure as it's supposed to be.

ASPARTAME

In 1986 when Aspartame had just begun to glut the market, we questioned The Council about its safety, especially for children. They responded:

It is harmful to all of you. It is not a healthy product as time will prove itself out. And just because something can be made from the by-product of natural things does not necessarily mean that it is good.

Aspartame is composed of two amino acids. During digestion, when it breaks down, methyl alcohol is formed which is a highly toxic chemical. The increasing use of this sweetener in our food supply has prompted outcries from scientists who propose that it may interfere with normal fetal development. There have also been reports of it being responsible for dizziness, insomnia, headaches, loss of vision, nervous disorders, and seizures. The Council lectured:

Why must you all have such sweet tooths? After all, a little discipline in such areas would prove much wiser and much healthier. If you must have something sweet, then use something that is not scraped out of the bottom of an embalming can! Honey would be acceptable. Raw sugar, if you can get real raw sugar, would be acceptable. Even refined sugar would be better than these poisons that you use for sweeteners.

Aspartame sales have far surpassed the sales of any other sweetener and are encroaching on sugar sales. Its amazing popularity is mostly due to its flavor which is almost identical to that of sugar. But the remaining question is whether Aspartame is truly sweetness without consequences.

WEIGHT CONTROL

Perhaps the health issue most bandied about by people of all ages is weight control. In spite of all the low-fat foods, Americans are getting fatter. Reports indicate that we are eating less fat but one out of three Americans is still overweight.

So, if low-fat food is so popular, why isn't it working? There are several different theories. One of them is that we are cutting fat but not calories. For example, some of the fat-free cookies have considerably more sugar than regular cookies. So just because cookies are labeled fat-free doesn't mean you can gorge on half a package and not gain weight. Unfortunately, “fat-free” doesn't necessarily mean healthy. Read the labels. Another theory is that when we eliminate fat from our diet we don't feel full or satisfied so we compensate by snacking more.

In 1982, someone asked The Council to recommend a diet. They interjected a bit of their humor by saying:

The best diet is to stop eating. There are some things for a healthier body; there are some things that an individual can watch that would work with the natural processes of the physical. To give a specific plan would be next to impossible because each system differs to this degree or to that degree; but there are general rules that we can give that would help to reduce the weight of individuals. The first thing that one must definitely resign themselves to and that is to cut down on some of the intake that they have, particularly food that is not what we would consider clean food. Those quick foods that are so popular today are not conducive to controlling one's body weight. One should instead pick a sensible diet of vegetables, being careful of what type of vegetable he eats. Reduce the intake of vegetables like corn or peas which are high in sugar and starch. It would help immensely to eliminate meat that is overly greasy. Get a rounder balance of meats such as beef, very little pork, chicken or fowl of any sort, and of course, fish. And having three meals a day is very important.

The Council went on to say:

Now what causes most people to gain weight, other than eating poorly or choosing the wrong foods, is they seem to foul up their whole system so their metabolism is not as efficient as it should be. One of the two most important things that one should do to lose weight is to first eliminate caffeine. The caffeine slows down the body's ability to burn the excess away. The other helpful item would be to drink 8 to 10 ounces of a citrus juice, one half hour to forty-five minutes before meals. You may have either orange juice or grapefruit juice, but it would be a matter of trial and error which would be the most productive in helping the metabolism to become more efficient. The juice should be diluted with a small amount of water. In a ten ounce glass of juice add one ounce of water, then if one wishes it chilled, add ice cubes. In fact, we might advise that ice cubes always be added. Water cuts down on the acidity of the juice so it is easier on the stomach. One should also add some fresh fruit to the diet.

This diet has been tried by several members of SOL and was found to be very effective if followed exactly as prescribed.

CHOLESTEROL

There has been so much discussed and written about reducing cholesterol that it is difficult to decide what is accurate and what isn't. For a long time physicians were recommending eating few or no eggs. Now, they are reversing their thoughts about eggs. Butter has been replaced in most households with margarine which as it turns out is far more dangerous than natural butter.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were some natural way to unclog our arteries? Well, there is. The Council rarely comments on health issues and it has been their policy, especially when talking to large groups, not to discuss health. They have reminded us that they are helpers, not healers. But on one occasion, they broke with tradition and shared some amazingly simple steps to reduce cholesterol. They suggested eating an apple a day (or applesauce), two servings of oatmeal and a portion of dried beans. But they warned that you cannot eat two portions of oats and an apple and then go out and eat food that would be high in cholesterol. They said that oats and apples will actually eliminate the existing plaque that has accumulated on the artery walls! These suggestions have been tried by people in the group and cholesterol levels were reduced.

The Council said that they do not always approve of medications when there are more proper ways of reducing cholesterol:

You will only be able to reduce your cholesterol level to a certain point. If you eliminate outside cholesterol, your body will naturally manufacture it to a specific level. If you want to protect yourself from either outside cholesterol or that produced by the body, there are a number of products that can be eaten that would help to control the situation and also filter or clean the blood, and that would be apples in any form, either solid or as a sauce, dried beans in soup, and bran, oat bran in particular. Any form of roughage or fiber will also help. Those three products will do the greatest cleansing of the system. Medications are only temporary assistance in the initial phase if there is a problem, but the natural way should be employed immediately to allow the individual to remove themselves from medication.

So maybe the old cliché, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” isn't an old wives' tale after all.

LOW CARBOHYDRATE DIET

There is a diet circulating that breaks all former rules. Actually, this diet has been around for over 25 years. In order to accept this diet, you have to forget everything you've ever believed about dieting. Actually, it's not really a diet at all but a major change in your eating habits. This diet suggests that you eat mostly high protein foods and very little carbohydrates. Carbohydrates include all grains, fruits, and vegetables. In the initial phase of this diet you must limit your intake of carbohydrates to 30 grams a day which amounts to about one and a half cups of lettuce. The problem with carbohydrates is that all of us eat too many of them and our bodies can't process them well. Carbohydrates force the pancreas to make insulin which in turn actually shuts down the body's fat-burning mechanism. Insulin makes you constantly hungry and no matter how much you eat, you're never full. When you start eating more fat and fewer carbohydrates, the opposite happens. Your body burns fat and your hunger is satisfied. Diabetics are classic examples of wrong eaters. There are of course other factors which induce diabetes but for the most part it is wrong eating.

The Council recommended that we forget about diet foods and no-fat foods and eat normal everyday foods. They said:

You want something sweet, eat something sweet, but don't make it your diet. If you don't want to eat a piece of pie or cake as a dessert, you choose to eat a fruit that may be sweet, fine. This is acceptable. But if you have a hunger and you choose to satisfy it with a fruit, let us suggest, satisfy it with a piece of meat or a piece of cheese, not a fruit, because the fruit has sugar and it doesn't allow the body to work properly. It doesn't allow the body to convert food into energy that the body can use.

A low carbohydrate diet not only causes weight-loss but more importantly, reduces cholesterol and triglyceride levels. This diet seems to be easier for men than women, as women have trouble eating all that protein and giving up a lot of vegetables and fruit. The Council addressed this way of eating:

We are not saying throw all the dietary suggestions to the wind. Understand that. We think it is wise to eat a proper balance of vegetables and grains and what have you, but certainly not to the degree or the amount that is suggested today. The body becomes reliant on those starches and the metabolism of the body goes into malfunction mode, in more ways than one. Now, again, we are not saying eliminate everything else and indulge yourself in protein. That is not what we have said. You want a greater portion of protein because that is a slow energy into the body. The body breaks it down slower than something in the area of vegetables and fruits, so there is a sustained feeding of the body, which is much more healthy than jolting the body with something, some nutrient that the body can only assimilate so much and the rest turns to fat.

One study found that obese adults have more chronic health problems than smokers and heavy drinkers. In fact, the report found that obese people have nearly twice the chronic health issues than people of normal weight.

In reference to a high-protein diet, someone asked if it would be better to eat less red meat and more poultry or doesn’t it make any difference? This was The Council’s reply:

Meat is meat, whether it is red, white, purple or green. That’s simply salesmanship. That’s all. Fish is every bit as much of meat as beef is.

The subject of dairy products came up in relation to a high-protein diet. Here is what The Council said:

[Dairy products] are a by-product of meat and that contains protein. Plus there are other things in that form of protein that are beneficial. When you eat yogurt for instance, what is it but dairy product that has bacteria in it? It changes its form but it adds a nutritional quality of benefit to the body when it is eaten. The same with cheese. What is cheese but milk? And what has been done to the milk? A variety of things but ultimately it is the bacteria that changes the fluid into a solid or a semi-solid. Some of these bacteria are very beneficial for the human body.

VEGETARIANISM

Vegetarianism is practiced all over the world but has not been part of our culture until the last few decades. Americans are becoming vegetarians in increasing numbers. Their reasons for turning to this alternative vary widely. Some have religious reasons, others ethical (they are concerned about the inhumane treatment of animals), some maintain it is ecologically sound, and others because it is less costly than eating meat.

Malnutrition is almost certain whenever one deletes a whole class of food from their diet. The American vegetarian is more vulnerable to malnutrition than those from other cultures. He simply does not have the benefit of centuries of tried and true tradition to guarantee his food selections will be adequate to maintain his health. To compensate for this lack of tradition, the American must have a thorough understanding of the workings of the body and of the principles of nutrition. He really has to know what he's doing and according to The Council, this is unlikely:

There is so much concerning the physical body that your scientists have not even begun to think about, let alone to realize that anything is there, to attempt to eliminate entirely certain things from the diet. We have said in the past and we will say that your society, this society eats entirely too much red meat. It is not necessary, it is not healthy. But at the same time, to eliminate such products completely, creates a likened condition [an unhealthy condition]. Much of the growing of vegetables, fruits, nuts, their nutritional value is governed by the condition of the soil, and in some areas where certain minerals are in short supply or depleted, combining certain vegetables or fruits or nuts in hopes to establish the necessary mineral in the body is of no value because it is not in the plant itself.

Vegetarians often look pale and The Council explains why:

If you look at vegetarians, those who classify themselves as vegetarians and if they are true vegetarians, after a period of time, they begin to have an odd color about their skin. It never seems to be really healthy or never seems to have a glow about it. It is always kind of pasty-looking. A more dramatic term would be, it has a death color to it.

The vegetarian should be aware that he may have deficiencies in vitamins D and B12. Vegetarians often believe they can get sufficient vitamin B12 from a type of fermented soybean but it has been determined this is not the case. So experts recommend that vegetarians take a B12 supplement in pill form. They are also more likely to develop an iron deficiency and should be tested periodically for anemia.

There are two major types of vegetarians – one who uses milk and eggs and the pure vegetarian who eats only plant foods. But is there really such a person who is a pure or true vegetarian? The Council enlightened us:

Very, very few people are true vegetarians. There are many who profess to have been vegetarians for many years but heed not such false claims. If one were a true, complete vegetarian for more than a few years, they would not be able to do much in life.

The Council gave an example of three different individuals. One has a vegetarian diet, one a diet which includes milk and eggs, and one who eats meat. They said that the meat-eater would be the healthiest and the least healthy would be the vegetarian. It is wise to curtail our intake of meat, especially red meat but to eliminate all meat may be harmful.

The Council reiterates their position on vegetarianism:

The physical body itself, if one looks at the digestive system, the structure of the upper part of the body, the jaw structure, the type of teeth, it is quite evident, even to a novice, that that structure is such for meat-eating, but it is also a structure that is for nut-eating and of course fruits and vegetables. So, this attitude of eliminating all meat from one's diet is pure foolishness.

The body is made to eat meat, and you cannot change that. Deprive it of meat and you will create a sick body in the end, at least, at very least, a body that would not be able to survive a hard time. Look at those who are vegetarians. Look at them closely. They do not look healthy. It is basically because they are not healthy.

ANIMALS FOR FOOD

Philosophers have agonized over man's persistent habit of killing animals and eating the flesh for food. We are the most advanced creatures on earth, made in the image of our Creator. We maintain our life by destroying the life of creatures below us. There are a growing number of people who feel that eating meat is below our dignity and avoid it at all costs.

In nature we find that the predator-prey relationship occurs up and down the food chain. In Genesis we learn that mankind was given dominion over the animals. It seems clear that meat-eating and the killing involved is not immoral and is in fact a right that mankind derives from dominion over all animals.

The Council has given information on the use of animals for food. They stress that animals raised for food should be properly cared for when alive and killed as humanely as possible. The Council does not object to eating meat:

You have been given charge of all animals in creation, and it is man's responsibility to care for those animals when he has the opportunity or when he is in the position to do so. Also, when possible, if animals are to be done away with for your nourishment, then you should show a kindness to them in the way that you end their existence.

Is it morally right to hunt and fish for food?

To kill an animal for your own sustenance or for your family's sustenance is quite another thing. You may find that you would enjoy, shall we say, a fresh catch. There is nothing wrong in catching your own food even though it can be purchased in a store. We would have to suggest that these activities be done with concern for the animals being hunted.

Someone asked The Council if it is acceptable to hunt or fish for the pleasure of killing and they emphatically responded:

No! To kill for the pleasure of killing is an absolute no and indicates a spiritual condition that is sorely lacking.

HORMONES IN MEAT

More than a century ago a monk by the name of Mendel worked out the process of inheritance through years and years of experimentation. The process is universal and except for mutations, is very predictable. The theory is that children will closely resemble their parents. In practice this is not always the case.

Observe the next time you are in a restaurant or in church how children often tower over both parents. Sometimes daughters are taller than their fathers. There is no doubt about it, in the last twenty years children have grown bigger and taller. You might attribute this to better health and nutrition. But is that really the whole story?

Europeans will not import American meat because they claim it is contaminated with antibiotics and growth hormones. It is common practice for meat producers to add such substances to animal feed. The animals grow faster and larger with less feed and the resulting meat is more marbled, making it juicy and tender.

Is it really possible that there is a connection between larger children and food additives? Here's what The Council had to say about this:

The meats that you eat are so filled with poisons because of the way the animals are fed that it is unbelievable. You are dying and needing less and less to preserve your bodies. Look at the drastic change in human height in such a short period of time. Why? Doesn't anyone think? Doesn't anyone ask? Doesn't anyone search? Can any of you purchase a fruit and eat it just as is? You would be insane to do so. In fact, most fruit you would be insane to eat, period, whether you washed it or not.

Someone asked them why children seemed to be getting taller to which they replied:

Because of all the hormone injections, either to the meat products or to the animal in its food chain. You are also adding problems to the immune system through the use of medication in the foodstuffs for animals. But, you see, there is a greater profit margin by using all this. Do you see? So what if twenty years down the road it may totally destroy the immune system or put it in such a situation so that your pharmaceutical houses will have to come up with stronger and stronger antibiotics? Eventually you will reach a point where the system will not tolerate the antibiotics any more than it will the disease, and so it is a question of whether you want to die through an antibiotic or through a disease. Now that could be the future of man if he does not start thinking properly and taking actions against those things that are important.

That information was given in l988 and look at the problem we're having with antibiotics now. We are being medicated against our will in the interest of higher profits for food producers. It's the same old story. When money is involved the people come last.
