God answers wishes. And, He answers them spectacularly. He understands you and wants to grant your wishes and answer your prayers. Communicating with Him is a condition that is necessary for Him to answer anyone. More Than a Wish will guide you to understand how He hears you, too.
*****
To all of you who seek
God, waiting patiently for
answers to your wishes
and prayers.
***
This book is a testament to the fact that God does grant wishes, and wants to answer your prayers.
If you doubt that, don’t. God relates to everyone, including people who feel they don’t fit in spiritually, people who think of God outside the box, and people who are searching for answers. No one is left out. No one is forgotten. No one is put off.

And I will listen to you,

A Prayer
“You can identify them by their fruit, that is,
by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thorn bushes,
or figs from thistles?
- Matthew 7:16
***
I told a fable during prayer comparing myself to a simple maiden. The maiden hears a great voice from a heavenly cloud. “You have been honored with the task of making wine for a heavenly feast.” A heavenly voice proclaims,
The valley is filled with lush vineyards and the humble woman knows there are seasoned laborers far more experienced in stomping grapes. She is honored to be the one chosen to prepare wine for a divine feast and she wishes only to be worthy of the task given her.
A barrel of grapes is prepared for her and upon seeing it she leaps with faith into the barrel. She stomps with zest as she imagines golden goblets of wine served at a heavenly feast. Her movements are swift and sure-footed as she stomps the grapes purging them of their juice. She laughs, her joy overflowing at the thought of making wine for the feast.
A poke to her foot breaks her stride and she slows down but each step lands on something beneath her feet. She stops and bends down searching through the mashed grapes. She finds grapes that weren't stripped from the vines, and yet she hasn’t pricked her foot. She tosses the twigs out and continues to trample the grapes with a joyful heart. She is confident that wine will be ready for the feast.
The pressed grapes gush with juice and she dances upon the grapes content that she will please the heavens. Her elation falls when another twig pokes her foot. She finds the twig and tosses it aside. Discouraged, she feels the twigs are testing her faith. She notices people from the village on a nearby hill and forgets about her trouble. Her story of a voice in the cloud had spread by word of mouth. The villagers knew about the great feast and the wine that was being made.
The maiden waves hoping someone will come over and offer encouragement. Some of the villagers wave back anxious to see her progress. The villagers notice the twigs on the ground before they peer in to the barrel and they whisper among themselves,
“Look at the pile of twigs she has thrown about yet she continues to believe she will be ready for the feast.” And then they laugh among themselves. She sees them leave one, by one still whispering how much better off they are than her. Her heart aches to be comforted and she is disappointed by their self-righteousness. The villagers that scorned her make her weary and she contemplates that she may never find all the twigs hiding among the grapes. She is tired and afraid of piercing her foot to the point of bleeding.
The day wears on and trampling the grapes becomes like her life, and the making of wine like a reflection of her life. The twigs represent the hidden things in life waiting to hurt her and how she continues trampling obstacles with faith. The making of wine reflects the thorns that make her stumble and doubt herself, and cause her to doubt the heavenly voice in a cloud.
Disillusioned with herself she cried out, “I fear Lord that I am too tired to have wine ready for the feast. I worry that I will prick my foot if I carry on and will ruin all that I have done. Please forgive me for I have not the strength to continue trampling the grapes given me.”
I know the Lord understood my story but I found no comfort from the prayer, and I wept with much sorrow.

Chapter One
I Wish
“For you are my lamp, O Lord, and
the Lord will lighten my darkness.”
- Samuel 22:29
Sleepless nights greet my morning, every morning, and in the silence of quiet nights dark thoughts beckon me. Emptiness feeds on gloom and secret places swell with numbness. Beneath the surface an endless pit churns constantly fueled by my loss. I mourn the dark shadows that grow within and cry out to God. Tears settle and I sit motionless. I am comforted by quiet calm as particles dance in the sunlight. God breaks the silence. Graceful and infinite the spirit of God washes over my soul. Soft and gentle the living God whispers, “What would you do if I gave you three wishes?”
I sit stunned in a place beyond darkness while emptiness is suspended in a timeless moment. Deep inside my dark pit of despair an ember glows to light my way out. God’s presence holds me in a soft embrace and I wander over the valleys of my mind. I do not question this state of bliss. I understand that God is a giver, not a genie. God is divine. I pause in contemplation and deep within I ask ‘What three things do I need?’
The gift to ask for meaningful wishes is mine to hold. The view to my heart is open. Comfort speaks in soft whispers to my wayward thoughts. Secret wishes no longer drift by unnoticed. Cares of this world spark desires for lush excesses; many selfish and shallow. Lustful thoughts rise and passions surround me. Desire for worldly possessions comes to the surface.
“Ask and it shall be granted” is a promise from God and the grace to receive wishes is powerful. My breath slows as I breathe in serenity. I release a heavy sigh freeing tensions. Fear whispers ‘ask for money’ but I quiet the rumbling.
My selfishness makes me somber. I kneel in reverence and pause to reconsider my wishes. I breathe in deeply, ready to explain the reasons for my wishes. I exhale slowly, hoping that my wishes are three worthy wishes.
My last wish is for a simple day-by-day relationship with the Holy Father. I’m grateful for the experience of knowing His Presence and I desire more. I never want Him to leave, and I never want to abandon Him. Solid and firm, I want to stand surrounded by His guidance. My wishes are said and a glorious sunset glows from within as the Holy Spirit speaks.
“Your wish for a simple and life-long relationship with God is fulfilled.” Hues of warmth wash over me and heavenly trumpets form words, “Wherever you are, I AM and will forever be.” I glow from within and words sound like rushing water, “In order to fulfill all of your wishes you must receive knowledge of your divine purpose. This knowledge will free your heart and enable you to write a testament for God.”
The holy voice continues, “A simple and life-long relationship with God has been granted.” The gong of an infinite chime resonates within and its sound causes me to shake inwardly. The intensity of its melody travels throughout my essence. I’m aware my wish is granted.
